I woke up with the strange feeling that something happened while I was asleep.

The whole day, I felt a heavy weight on my shoulders. At one point, it literally felt as if somebody was pushing down on my shoulders and I was gasping for air.

I stayed inside all day, thinking that if I took a step outside, I would have a panic attack.

I jumped at every little noise.

I was sitting on the couch watching the news when I heard a dog barking outside. I had a blanket on me before that, but when that dog started barking, I jumped so much that it was on the other side of the sofa.

"Unidentifiable person breaks into house, taking nothing, but injuring both the mother and father. The two, who have asked to remain anonymous, are in the hospital recovering," The news anchor says.

A man, probably about 20 years old with light brown hair appeared on the screen. The text underneath said that he was their neighbor.

"Yeah, I saw 'em enter the house. I just thought it was their son coming home after a night out, but then I saw their son's car pull up and him get out. That's when I called the police, because I didn't know who the other person was or what they were doing in there. I shouted at the boy, told him not to go in there, he stayed back in his car."

I picked my blanket back up, listening to the news.

Who would've broken into someone's house, not stolen anything, and only barely hurt the people in it? I thought to myself.

It was odd, because last night, I had a dream that I was in someone's house and was just walking around, but I remember waking up in my own bed, so maybe it was just a coincidence.

I stood up to go get some food, when I got a call from my brother, who I haven't seen in about three years.

"Ian?" I asked into the phone.

"Kylie, I just got home last night and mom and dad are in the hospital," Ian said.

"Wait? Did someone break into the house?" I asked.

"Yeah, it's all over the news. Please just come back home to visit them. I know you guys aren't on the best of terms with each other, but they could really use your company," Ian said over the phone.

"I don't know, Ian. They don't want to see me. They kicked me out," I said, pacing back and forth, biting my nails.

"Please. I'm sure they won't yell at you. They'll probably be happy to see you again," Ian said in a calm voice.

"Bu-" I started to say, but I was cut off by Ian.

"It's been three years, Kylie. We haven't seen you since your sophomore year. Please just come visit them," Ian pleaded.

I took a deep breath and rolled my eyes.

"Fine. But the moment they start yelling or being rude, I'm leaving," I said into the phone, walking toward the counter and grabbing my keys.

Once I got to the hospital, Ian directed me to their joined room.

"I really don't want to see them," I said to Ian at the door.

"Please," he said.

I huffed and opened the door, walking in with Ian right behind me.

"Mom, dad," I said, saying dad with a more disgusted tone than mom.

"Kylie," my mom just said.

"What happened?" I asked, trying to sound concerned.

"Ian already told you. That's why you're here. If it weren't for him, you wouldn't even know," my dad snapped.

"I heard about it on the news but I didn't think it was you guys," I said, trying to stay calm while my dad got angry with me.

"Well it was. And if it weren't for Ian's car pulling up into the driveway, we could've been dead," dad said, raising his voice.

"Well I'm sorry, I was told to never visit again after last time," I snapped.

"You told us that you were dreaming inside of dreams! You were just wanting more of our money so you had to come up with a stupid lie to get it!" my dad shouted.

I just stood there, shocked.

"You know what? I don't even know why I came here. I thought you would feel better, knowing that your daughter still cares about you after you kicked her out when she was 15. But you didn't, because you still hate me. You guys are horrible. I never want to see you again," I said, walking out of the room and walking toward the elevator.

"Kylie! Kylie, wait!" I heard Ian yelling.

I stopped and turned around.

"No, I'm not talking to them ever again. You can come visit me. But them, I never want to see again," I said, turning back around and getting onto the elevator and then walking out to my car, driving to my house.

I texted Shawn about what had happened and he said he would meet me at my place.
