Tasha P.O.V
As I made my way gently down the curved, short distanced stairs it fell as if I was preparing for a death that took forever to come. I took my time staring at the now empty living room I'd once grew up and lived in.
A memory flashed before my eyes of my 11th birthday surprise party. That was the year when Daddy opened his own firm in Los Angeles and was determined that his youngest child of two would have the best birthday she's ever dreamed of.
Although it wasn't exactly the best birthday I'll ever have, I was grateful that both mum and dad tried their best to make it a memorable one for me.
My sister Casey was a big help with the party at that time. She made herself useful by inviting all of our friends in the neighbourhood and from school.
That day mum made plans to take me shopping earlier to get whatever I wanted. It wasn't long till we got home, taking out our shopping from the car I rushed back into the house and flicked on the living room light switch.
"Surprise" screamed my friends and closest family members.
My eyes glazed of unshed tears of the memory and I rapidly blinked them away.
"Natasha honey your friends are waiting for you outside" said mum
My mum Marie-Ann Dalton is a light skin African-American woman who is passionate about her job which is a social worker and adored her young clients she worked with, making sure they felt safe and satisfied.
I appreciate everything my parents and Casey ever did for me and I'll never stop reminding them how grateful I am. I loved them dearly and would not wish for any other to replace them.
We both made our way outside. Standing there was Casey talking to my best friends, Raven and Christina.
Casey is my older sister was about 5ft5, has shoulder length black hair and has the same nice, smooth complexion as mum. She's 6 months pregnant with her ex-fiancé James who cheated on her with her ex-best friend, she couldn't forgive both of them for their betrayal towards her. Without her ex-fiancé and soon to be father, everything has been so difficult for Casey. So our parents decided that she should move in with us until she's stable to stand on her own two feet and look after herself and her child.
Raven noticed that I was standing behind them and she now rushed over to me
"Tasha we don't want you to leave us behind and then just forget about us because you have new friends" said Raven giving me a tight hug, Christina immediately joined in the group hug.
I told them how much I'm going to miss them and that I will never ever forget about them because they're like sisters to me and been there for me.
As we pulled apart Christina said "We're going to come and visit you"
"There is always a space for you two in our new home" I replied, by then tears were now streaming down our faces. We all embraced each other in another group hug until I heard a voice from a distance.
"Come on honey we have to get going" it was my dad
"Give her a break she has to say bye to her friends, baby it's bad enough as it is" argued Mum.
Terry Dalton is a big, well build, tall dark African-American who looks intimidating but on the inside he's just a big softy towards his family and loved ones. He's well known for winning most of his cases as he is the best lawyer know. Him and mum have been together for 25 years now and that's a pretty long time now, I don't know how they do it but I'm just happy as I know they have great amount of love and respect for each other.
"Ok Ann, but don't take too long girls" Dad replied kissing my mother on the cheek heading to the car with the white van parked behind it.
"I have to go now" I said wiping the tears from my face. "I'm going to miss you guys so much, Raven lay off the sweet stuff you know they are not good for you and Christina you gotta eat more, I know you want to be a model and all but you don't have to be that skinny" I said light-heartedly they both nodded their heads with a small smile touching their lips.
I began to make my way towards the car when I heard Raven call my name, I turned back around.
"If anybody tries to mess with you, girl you better tell them about themselves and their sorry ass. Teach them a lesson because nobody messes with you or they get beatings when I get down there"
I smiled with my eyes filled with tears. I know that these two girls will always be there for me when times get tough.
"Call me ok? Beside I can't miss all the gossip of the LA people" we laughed
"Love you" Christina whispered
"Love you too" I replied. I hurried up to the car and got in.
"It's going to be alright honey" Dad said but I just ignored him and stared out the back window looking at my friends.
I waved to them as dad started the engine to the car, they waved back but as we kept on driving they kept on getting smaller and smaller. Until I couldn't see them anymore but I kept on staring out the window, scared at what life is going to throw at me next.
