CHAPTER TWO:Oh No. Why Him? Anyone But Him.

Disclaimer:I'm not Uncle Rick. I don't own PJO or HoO. The only things I own are the OCs.

💔💔Piper/Aria POV💔💔
My alarm clock rings. I yawn and roll out of bed. I do my morning rituals and head downstairs. I eat breakfast, get my bag and exit the house.
---------Time Skip(walking)-------
Math first period. Yay. Staring at numbers. Great way to start the day, right? Crap. I remember what Mrs Arsia said yesterday. Random guide. Gods. For the second time this week, I hope it's not me. I take out my headphones and put it around my neck. Mrs Arsia catches me. Oh crap. Oh crap. Please not me, please not-"Ah, Ms Crakeart, just so you know, you're the guide for the new student." Crapppp.
"Please go to the office to pick him up." She continues. Him. It's a him. I sigh, go to the back, put down my bag, and walk to the office.
----------time skip---------
I see the teacher at the counter, Ms Leon, talking to a blonde guy. His back is to me, so I can't really see him, but he looks like...no...it can't be..."Here is your guide, Ms Aria Crakeart," Ms Leon says. The guy turns to look at me. No.
     "Ms Crakeart, meet Jason Grace."
No. No. It's Jason freaking Grace. His blonde hair, blue eyes, scar on his upper lip... its him. I'm doomed. What did I do to the fates to deserve this? Please do not recognise me.
⚡️⚡️Jason POV⚡️⚡️
    "Ms Crakeart, meet Jason Grace."
I turn and look at the girl. She has midnight blue eyes and long, black, spiky hair. She's dressed in black torn jeans, a purple t-shirt, and blue converse. Somehow she looks familiar. Maybe she's one of Thalia's Hunters. When her eyes meet mine, they widen in surprise, panic and fear. Her muscles tense. Then her eyes harden. She puts on a mask of calm.
I hold out my hand for her to shake. She reluctantly does so. Her hand is soft and smooth."Hi, Aria," I say."You seem familiar, have we met?" She shakes her head."Um, n-nope," she says. Her voice sounds like...like...Piper. She's the reason I'm here, anyway. Chiron decided to send me here to give me a break from searching for Piper. But the only reason I agreed to go was actually because I realised that Piper could maybe be in this school. Plus the other guys kept trying to get me to date other girls, but I couldn't. My heart still belongs to Piper.
"We should get to class." Aria turns and leads me to the classroom. She enters the classroom and sits at the back, next to a tall girl with black eyes and black hair with highlights. The teacher, Mrs Arsia tells me to introduce myself. A few girls are winking at me. I ignore them.
"I'm Jason Grace," I tell them, and then proceed to tell them other stuff. When I'm done, Mrs Arsia tells me to take a seat next to Aria. I notice girls are glaring at her, but she doesn't seem to care. For the rest of the lesson, she ignores me and listens to music.
--------------time skip----------
The bell rings, signalling lunch. Aria sighs, tells me to follow her, picks up her bag and heads to the cafeteria. She tells me stuff along the way in a monotone, ignoring the glaring girls. She flops down at a table with two girls.
The tall girl from Math who is chewing gum, has earbuds on and looks like she wants to skewer me  plus a small girl who is looking at me with a conflicted expression on her face: like she either wants to kill me or worship me. She introduces herself as Crystal Fawna and the tall girl as Arianna Cassia Sonata.
Crystal tells me,"I've heard so much about you!" In a much softer voice she continues,"Son of Jupiter, one of the Seven." I stare at her in disbelief. She then informs me that she's a daughter of Aphrodite, Aria too, and Arianna's a daughter of Hermes, blessed by Athena and Apollo, and that they go to camp during the weekends and the summer. I tell them that Chiron sent me here, but I don't tell them why.
She stops talking when we hear a high-pitched voice."OMG, girls! There's, like, a hottie sitting at the, like, loser, like, table!" I turn to see a face caked with makeup. The body attached to it is wearing what seems to be six-inch heels, duct tape and string. The girl has dyed blonde hair and pink eye contacts that look creepy.
"Jessica, go away," says Crystal tiredly, rubbing her head."Like, no, Garbage Faces," Jessica sneers. She turns to me.
"C'mon hottie, let's, like, go to the, like, popular, like, table.""Instrid, poor baby, do you need glasses? 'Cause it seems to me, the only "Garbage Faces" around here are you and your goons!" Arianna says in a mocking baby voice.
"Hmph!" Instrid storms away, leaving the girls to "celebrate their victory". Just then, three boys come over. One winks at Aria."Hey, babe," he says,"You're coming over tonight, right? And I'm not taking no for a answer."
Aria growls."Lofts, not now, not ever. I am never going to be interested. Deal with i-" Lofts suddenly leans forward and kisses Aria. Aria, too shocked to push him away, sits there. Arianna and Crystal don't notice, they are to busy fending off Lofts' other friends.
Something stirs inside of me. Protectiveness. I lunge forward and punch Lofts' jaw. He stumbles back. He snarls,"You just made a enemy, Grace. You better watch your back." He walks off still holding his jaw.
Aria wipes her lips."Bleh. Gross." She looks at me. Something flickered in her eyes. Begrudging respect."Thank you," she says,"For 'saving' me." She puts air quotes when she says "saving".
The bell rings."We better get to class," Aria tells me. We grab our stuff and head to our next class, Bio. On the way there, I remember my personal reason why I came here in the first place."Hey," I ask Aria,"Does this school happen to have a girl called Piper McLean?"
For a second, she looks like as if she's internally panicking, then she's back to cool, calm and collected Aria."Nope,"she says, a sliver of fear in her voice, so little she probably thinks I didn't hear it, but I did. She's hiding something, and I'm gonna find out.
We enter the classroom. A few girls bat their eyelashes at me. Aria rolls her eyes and mutters something about "boy-crazy" and "airheads". Some boys wink at Aria and I feel an urge to put a protective arm around Aria but she'll probably punch it away, or something.
We sit down at the back and wait for class to begin. Mr Weston walks in with a briefcase."Hello, class," he says. The class mumbles back "hey"s, "yo"s and other...choice words, if you catch my drift."Now, we are going to go a project." I looked at Aria. She had a bored expression on her face and was listening to music.
"I have chosen your partners already. They will also your partners for the rest of the year, for other projects." Mr Weston takes out a sheet of paper with printed words on it from his briefcase."Ahem! Lily and Jake, Max and Julie, Aria and Jason..."
I turn to Aria."So," I say,"Partners, huh?""Yeah. Awesome." She says, sounding like "awesome" was the last word she would use to describe the situation. She looks at me in distaste.
When Mr Weston finishes calling names, I take out a notebook and start taking notes about the project. I glance at Aria. She's sleeping. I should wake her up before the teacher scolds and humiliates her.
But before I do, I notice something. My breath catches. The way she sleeps...just like Piper. Inhale through her nose, exhale by a puff through her mouth. The similarities are increasing. Her face...her choppy hair...her voice...her godly parentage...now her way of sleeping...But it can't be her...Right?
I mean, her name is Aria Crakeart, not Piper McLean, for gods sake! But maybe she changed her name, a little voice in my head says. I sigh, and decide to confront Aria if the similarities continue to increase. I wake her up by hitting her gently on the back. She bolts upright.
Whoops. I think I may have accidentally zapped her."Jason! What was that for?" She whisper-yells."It was an accident! I wanted to wake you up!" I whisper-yell back."Mr Grace, Ms Crakeart, please pay attention to the board, not each other's faces!" A sharp voice interrupts.
Mr Weston. Several kids snicker. I blush and look at Aria. Her face is similar to a tomato."Sorry, Mr Weston," we mumble. We sit in silence for the rest of the class, me taking notes and Aria staring blankly ahead.
💔💔Piper/Aria POV💔💔
Stupid Mr Weston. Thanks for embarrassing me! I wanted to say. Just what I needed, another crappy moment for a crappy day. First Jason comes to my school. Yay. Next I'm his guide. Marvellous. Then Lofts kisses me. Joy. Then I'm partnered up with Jason for the rest of the freaking year. I'm so happy I could dig my eye out with a fork. Finally, dear Mr Weston humiliates me. To sum it up:this day sucked.
I look ahead at the board, but I'm not actually paying attention. Thoughts race through my mind. Why was he asking for me? To say he was sorry for stomping on my heart? To beg me to take him back? To taunt me further?
I continue to think up possibilities until Jason snaps me back to reality by nudging me."Mr Weston said that we may come over to each other's houses to continue the project. My house or yours?"
I panic for a millisecond. Jason cannot see my house. He doesn't recognise me, but he might put one and one together and find out. I cannot let that happen. Then I put on a mask of calm. His eyes narrow like he saw me panic, but he doesn't say anything.
"Your's," I say and add in a lower voice,"Chiron did give you a house or apartment, right?" He nods and gives me his address. I sigh in relief internally. The bell rings. We head to another class, not speaking the whole time.
---time skip to da end of school---
"So, Spar-I mean, Jason," I ask,"When do I come over?" Jason eyes me suspiciously and thinks for a moment, before replying,"3. If that's okay with you." I nod, and we each go our separate ways.
Close save, I think while walking. I nearly called him Sparky. He looks like he's a better guy, though...Once I realise I thought that, I shake my head furiously to get it out of my head. He doesn't love you, never did, I remind myself.  He probably just break your heart again if you let him into your life willingly. The best thing you can do is to run from the heartbreak, and when faced with Jason, keep a cold, fierce front. But not too fierce. He doesn't recognise you and might wonder why you're so cold towards him.
