Adrien lifted his tear-stained face. And even with his eyes puffy red, golden hair messy and displaced, clothes all dirtied, he looked beautiful. Like he was art itself. His green eyes shining with tears, lips red from him biting on it, fighting to shut off the voice that he recognised. The voice he had never heard close up until then. The voice he never had a chance to recognise.

(I never realized how GAY that description sounded until I reread it but I'm still gonna keep it.)

The voice of his father.

A delicate looking insect fluttered into his view, hovering inches in front of his face. But somehow not entering an item of his possession.

'Heh. I don't have anything for it to possess. I've lost everything. I have nothing left.' He thought to himself.

But then he heard the voice again.

'Well?'

'You're...asking for my consent?'

'Of course I am son. Don't you want to be by my side when I bring back your mother?'

'You...that's why you wanted the miraculous's!? Because you want to bring back someone who's already dead!?'

'SHE IS NOT DEAD!! I CAN BRING HER BACK! Don't you want that Adrien?'

'Father,' his voice cracked, but the word seemed to echo on forever.

He sniffed in the silence before continuing. 'Father. I want to see mom. You know I want to. And I will see her one day. You, I'm not so sure.'

'Excuse me?'

'Father, I want to see mother. But I will never. Never use dirty, evil means to achieve that. I will die the death of a hero one day, and I will rise to He heavens to reunite with mom. I would never harm someone else, just to chase something that isn't meant to be!'

'SILENCE!!!'

The insect flew straight into his chest, and Adrien felt a strange sense of pacification. As if the place the Akuma hit made him devoid of all emotion. Which he wanted to just embrace so badly. But he didn't.

He thrashed. He struggled, he did all he could, he summoned all the strength he had ever felt, he pulled against the ropes, he pushed against the pole behind him, he moved and writhed in all directions. He didn't even know what he was doing anymore. All he knew was that this was wrong. All that was fuelling him was his want for justice against his father. His hatred for Hawk Moth. For he, was reason he was used to disappointment all the time. He was the reason his life became so miserable after his mother died. He made him suffer. And he should be held responsible for that.

Something else rose in Adrien.

Something red.

Something hard, blinding, explosive. It was fury and rage. It slammed hard into the darkness within him, and filled the void with emotion. Every part of him was tingling, he felt like he had everything and nothing at the same time. It was so mentally confusing and it hurt so much. Every inch of his body seared with pain. But then, the flames spread, it bursted in a fiery explosion of passion and emotion within him.
