"Ok class! As you can see, today is the talent show!" My second period teacher, Mrs. Marnie said. I personally don't like the talent show. I feel bad for the people up there because everyone mocks them if they don't meet their expectations. I shift around my seat wincing as the pain hits my shoulder. I remember I woke up in my bed, with different pj's on. I didn't think anything of it until I took a shower. My arm was completely sore and I found that I had stitches on my upper arm.
I panicked and accidentally slipped, hurting my bottom. Thankfully I didn't hit my head. The only thing I don't get though, is why did I get stitches? And most importantly who the hell gave them to me? I changed and went downstairs, asking my mom if she did anything. For some reason, I didn't want to mention it straight up.
She said no, other than changing the hideous curtains, and I didn't mention it to her. She had enough on her plate. So now I'm sitting here in second period hoping no one notices my discomfort. Taylor of course noticed once I entered school, and she interrogated me, until I confessed. She thought I was making it up until I showed her. Now she's keeping a keen eye and watching for anything suspicious. I can't help but feel grateful to have her as a friend. I felt someone nudge my non-crippled arm.
"Quit zoning out." Taylor whispered.
"Sorry." I muttered. I looked ahead at the teacher talking, and she told us to head to the auditorium. Once we settled in our seats, I looked ahead waiting for...I don't know something. Just then, the principal appeared with the spotlight on him.
"Welcome, to this years talent show!" He said. There were lots of cheers and and clapping. "Now," He continued, "The first act is, Nina, singing 'If I Die Young' by The Band Perry, in honor of Sydny Dolata." At the mention of that I shiver.
She's a good singer, I mean if she took classes she would probably be really good. But I found it kind of funny how she sings a song about death. If I were her I would sing a mourning song, a song that would represent that her life was good. Or at least decent. But hey, what can I do? I'm not her.
"She's really good." Taylor whispers to me. I nod my head and pay attention to Nina again. When she was done people clapped respectively to her, some people whistling. She bowed and left. The rest were a blur, one guy juggling, another girl singing, the most interesting was two people reenacting star wars. But jocks started booing and told them to go get a life. Assholes.
I glared at the back of Alex's head. Sure he didn't do anything, but he didn't stop his testosterone filled friends. He didn't know I was glaring so I stopped, and looked back up on the stage. I heard a groan, as if something was trying to support something heavy but couldn't. I looked around to see if someone else heard it but everyone was still observed with the singing.
I looked up, and I thought I saw something move, but when I blinked it was gone. Instead, it was falling right towards the girl singing. It felt on top of her, and she let out a gasp of surprise. She fell on the floor and pushed...the body? It couldn't be? Could it?
Just then the girl (I'm going to call her Emily.) let out I high pitched scream. Yeah, it was a body. She shoved it off her with much more force, and it leaned against the wall as if sitting. Now that I take a closer look, I realize that it's Nina. I hear another scream, then multiple as people finally realize there is a dead body on our stage, and it happens to be Nina.
Her body is limp, and her mouth is wide open. It looks as if someone unhinged her jaw, and her eyes are wide. Her shirt is open enough for me to see that someone split open her stomach. I can actually see her organs. Gross.
On her face someone craved 'I know' on it. Gosh, everything's going to fast. My head starts spinning and everything's going confusing. I reach to my side, and start throwing up. I wipe my mouth, and look to Taylor who's staring at the scene with wide eyes. I grab her arm and as fast as I can I lead her to the exit.
