I woke up in a room that was completely white. The woman that sat beside me in the car was sitting in the small, desk chair.
“Good morning, Kalinda,” She greeted me.
I just glared at her.
“We have good news, Kalinda. We’ve tracked down a friend of yours and she said that she will love to adopt you. She’s coming here at 12:00, so you need to get ready.” She announced.
I huffed and grabbed the small yellow dress from the bed and walked to the bathroom. I got dressed really quickly. Unfortunately I had some trouble with my white sandals, so she had to help me with those.
“What time is it?” I asked.
“Its 11:30, you were tired.” She laughed.
I didn’t laugh; I still didn’t like the fact that they took me away from my mother.
She sighed, and led me to a lunch room where they had a tray of grill-cheese-sandwiches, green beans, and French fries. I hungrily ate it all in just a few minutes (Even the fat free French fries which were dull from the lack of salt). After that they gave me some crayons and a sheet of paper to keep me entertained.
“Kalinda, do you know a Veronica Darksky?” The woman asked.
I nodded my head and continued drawing my picture. I’ve never actually met her, but my mother talked about her.
The man that was there asked, “What are you drawing?”
“My horse, Princess,” I answered as I colored the eyes blue.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw the woman and the man look at each other. Then the door opened up and a tall lady stood there with dark, straight, black hair. She had turquoise, almond shaped eyes with a silvery tint to them.
“Hello, I’m Veronica and I’m here to pick up Kalinda Summers,” she introduced.
I smiled and waved at her. She grinned and motioned me over to her. I stood up and ran over to her. She swooped me into her arms, laughing.
“Hello, Veronica. If I could get you to sign some papers then we will let you go,” the woman motioned her to follow. After Veronica signed the papers we drove away, and we pulled up at my house.
