I woke up to the sun shining in through a crack in my curtain, "great," I mumbled to myself,"just great." I checked the time it was 6:25.  Only four hours till it was time.  I am turning 16 today and although to some the upcoming ceremony was a dream come true I've been dreading this my entire life.  You see since scientists invented these "miracle workers" children every year have began to receive them.  Our ancestors had sweet 16, we receive a stupid necklace.  Of course I'm the only person who thinks they are stupid.  The necklaces, named the Loveculator although nobody calls them that, are meant to find your soul mate.  It has a unique shape the only fits into one other necklace the person who wears it is supposed to be the perfect person for you.  But for a girl who doesn't believe in true love, it seems like a waste of time.  I sighed as I got out of bed and started down the stairs.  My parents, as always, already downstairs my mom, Regina Armani, was preparing breakfast and my dad, Bob Armani, reading the paper.  It's so stupid scientists say they can make a necklace who can find the perfect person, but can't find a way to make the news just pop into your head so much for geniuses.  My mom squealed when she saw me and grabbed me into a bone crushing hug," Oh sweetheart today's the day.  We have to start getting ready soon.  Oh I remember my necklace ceremony you know Zoe, your father was actually at my ceremony.  Since he and I were best friends as soon as I got my necklace though we knew we were meant to be."  Wow she is way more excited then I am for this my father barley looked over his paper and said," Zoe, this boy must be amazing taking my only princess away from me." Then he went back to reading his boring newspaper.  Next thing I know my mother is listing off all the things we need to do before the ceremony and just like that I was whisked off to start the "exciting" journey of finding my "true love".

"Zoe you need to sit still they are almost done." my mother saying sounding annoyed.  Almost done with what exactly ripping of my skin my mom said it was important to look my best today so she paid people to rip all the hair off my body.  Finally when it was over they plucked off my eyebrows and cleaned, more like scrubbed off, my face.  Then came the makeup the people plastered on thing after thing by the time they finished I felt like I gained 20 pounds in makeup.  Then they had me get into the horrible gown my parents picked out.    It was a ugly puffy green princess dress my mom said it matched my eyes, gee thanks mom.  By the time I was finally done being prepared I didn't look like myself, instead of my zit covered face I had flawless skin and my hair which was a normal light brown was dyed darker with my natural color acting as a highlight they said it would be better at making my eyes pop.  The gown matched my eyes perfectly after they added in colored contacts to my jade colored eyes to make them seem darker and it looked awful.  Now it was done though and I was ready to go.  Except for one more thing a meeting with mayor yippee.
