“You’re throwing your life away!” he looked furious and yet so confused. He doesn’t understand how I feel.
“She is my life, I can’t just watch her walk away." I try explaining to him.
“She’s just a girl, maybe it wasn’t meant to last" I know he’s saying it only for my best, but she’s all I want. I hear him scream, I avoid making eye contact because disappointment is spread all across his face.
“Then I don’t want you in my house, if you think you have everything figured out, then I want you to live on your own.” He stomps out of the room and within minutes he’s back and I stand here, in the same position he left me in. He throws two duffel bags near my feet.
“OUT!” he screams.
“Pack everything and get out of here, this is for your own good. If you move out, you’ll realize there are so many more things to worry about than a stupid heart break." How could he be so insensitive? I don’t understand and I don’t try to.
“Fine!” I spit at him and start throwing things into the bags. I hear him sigh and feel his hands on my shoulder. I shrug it away and turn around to face him.
“Harry, I know how you feel. I’ve been through it before, don’t get this wrong. The chain of events haven’t led to this, I’ve been wanting to ask you to move out. You’re twenty now, you should go get a job, earn and live on your own. After all I am your father and I know what’s best for you. I’m sorry that you and Diana broke up and- “I don't wait for him to finish. I walk out of the room slamming the door shut.
I just lie on the lawn and look up in the sky. She’ll come back, I think to myself. After a few minutes of contemplation I finally decide to move out. My dad gives me the keys to the house in Primrose Hill and I immediately shift.
*1 Year Later*
Who would’ve known that moving out was the best decision I would ever make. It’s a great life out here, I’ve grown and learnt so much. I also think I have become a bit of a Badass.
