A.N.// r.i.p. christina, we love you!

I never returned to the office earlier. I was in a good mood, and I didn't feel like letting my dick-for-brains boss ruin that. So, I texted Cheyney, telling her to cover for me, and off I went on my merry way.

Where did I go? Well, even though I've been a citizen of Metropolis for almost all of my life, I'd never actually seen the entire city. So I made my way down Main.

My first stop was this little clothing shop, about ten minutes from where I began. I decided that I deserved a new outfit after these past couple days, and the prices in the shop weren't very high, so I bought a whole new outfit. Using their changing room, I got dressed after paying, and made my way.

My next stop was a little Mexican restaurant, just a little ways down the road. I had skipped breakfast, and I didn't eat much at brunch, so I was quite hungry.

There wasn't much business in there, so I got seated pretty quickly. About five minutes later, they brought me a sweet tea, and took my order.

"Hola señorita. I am Emmanuel, and I will be your server today. Do you see anything that may cosquillas a su fantasía?" He moved to stand behind me, pulling his pen from behind his ear, giving me a slight smile.

"Um, yes actually. Can I get the pollo con crema, no beans, extra rice?" I asked, closing my menu.

", . Good choice," his smile widened as he took my menu. "Can I get you anything else, señorita?"

"Yeah, can I get extra sour cream, and an order of chips and salsa?" I smiled up at him, and he gave me a toothy grin.

"¡Sí, señora! Inmediatamente!" Emmanuel winked, and went on his way. I sat back in my chair, fiddling with my straw, waiting on my food. Hearing the bell from the door ring, I looked up, only to see someone I definitely wasn't expecting: Clark.

Our eyes met for 2.6 seconds, and then I looked down. There was this aching in my chest, and only one thought in my head; get out now, before he embarrasses you publicly.

But I couldn't. It wasn't because I was frozen in place, it wasn't because his eyes put me in a trance, none of that mushy shit.

It was merely because he was standing right in front of the only exit. And, he was using my only exit route to get to me. Oh my, this is gonna be an awkward confrontation.

"McKinley," Clark said my name so effortlessly. "It's nice to see you again-"

"Miss me with that bullshit, Clark," I huffed, crossing my arms. "You up and left me last night, no explanation, no apology. But it's oh so 'nice to see me again', right? I bet." Clark took the seat across from me.

"Kins, you have to understand. I really like you, and I just, I didn't want to hurt you or anything."

"Hurt me?" I forced a chuckle. "No need to be that cocky, Clark."

"No, I'm being serious! I didn't want to move too fast, and just," he calmed himself, placing his head in his hands. "Look, McKinley, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to just run out on you like that. Give me another chance?" I sighed.

"I don't know, Clark. I really like you too, and--" My sentence was interrupted by a strawberry blonde, who placed her arms around Clark.

"Hey, Clark, they found us a table," She smiled at him, then her eyes met mine. "Oh, who is this?" I raised n eyebrow.

"McKinley Mallard, journalist and news reporter for the World Gazette. And you may be...?"

"Lois Lane, Daily Planet. And may I say, Clark, I never saw you as one to flirt with trash."
