Cassie woke up with a start.
She remembered the faces in the window, and the one without a face. Was it real? Or was it just from her imagination about the book that Jane brought her? All Cassie knew was that she was hungry. She got out of bed and turned on the light, the clock on the wall said 11:50 p.m. Almost midnight.
She headed out her bedroom door to the hall. She felt for a light switch as she walked down the hall. Cassie was nervous when she remembered that they said they "patrol" at night. "What did they mean?" She shook it off after the light came on. How? She didn't feel the light switch."Maybe a sensor came on. Yeah, they seem rich enough!" She said to herself. She continued down the hallway and noticed that the rest of the lights were on.
Since her stomach was becoming louder than her thoughts, she headed to the kitchen. In the fridge, there was frozen cookie dough, brownies, some crackers and cheese, and a dozen chocolate bars on a plate labeled"for Cassie for a midnight snack"
"How did they know that I was up?" She pondered as she took a chocolate bar and ate it. She grabbed another one and started to head back to her room, when she saw that one of the doors on the second floor were open. Being as curious as she is, she headed upstairs to see who's door it was. The bottom floor was the only floor lit, so Cassie had to grab the flashlight that Slendy told her was in the third drawer next to the fridge. She grabbed it , and started to head upstairs. The lights turned off when she was halfway up the stairs. She didn't notice, Cassie was focused on finding out at least who's door was open. When she was up there, it felt, colder. The door was harder to find then she expected, but it wasn't too hard. She looked at the sign. It was an operator sign. Slendy's room. She looked at the wall clock in the hall.11:55 closer to Midnight.
Cassie peeked inside. There was a large closet, and an old bed stand. There was a medium bed that was empty, and that it could hold two people if they were close together, which made Cassie flush a bit. There was only one window, which was clean enough for Cassie to see her reflection, and someone beside her.
She turned quickly to see Slendy standing there, in a suit and tie. "Ow!" He said, shielding the light from his eyes,"sorry! Didn't mean to startle you, it's just, this is my room! Why are you in it?" "Uh, well, um, y-your door was open! I was just, uh..." Cassie didn't know how to respond. An awkward silence took over the room, until three giggles broke it. The two turned around to find Jeff, Freddy, and Jason, all behind them in the doorway. They looked differently. Jeffs skin was paler, Freddy's nails looked like knives, and Jason looked like he had the mask on from his door. "Must be the light!" Cassie thought. "Sorry if I woke you guys up, I was just-" "she was just coming up to help me! I was having problems with the flashlight! She brought some batteries and we got it working again!" Slendy's voice seemed so serious, and harsh. "We should all get back to 'bed' "Slendy shooed them out of his room except Cassie"be careful. you were lucky this time, but never be in our rooms at Midnight!" Cassie left the room, his words echoing in her head. When she got back to her room, she looked at the clock at the wall, 12:03.After midnight.
