as the short breaths begin to escape her small fragile body
another bomb goes off
another scream is heard
the blood seemed to drip slowly down her arm
but she knew it was running down
everything seemed to go in slow motion
as the pain in her body increased
she screamed out
screamed hoping someone would hear
but she knew her screams wouldn't be heard
she knew her screams would be silenced by the screams of others
she began to sprint away from the ground that was once her home
she was running from the place where the memories of her family once lived
the family that is so longer here
the tears began to run down her cheeks
blurring her vision
but she could not cry
because her family wouldn't have cried
her family would have stayed strong for her
her family stayed strong for her until their very last breath
as the tears began to dry
and her legs began to burn out
she screamed
and her voice began to be heard
heads began to turn
lives were saved
from a single scream
a single scream that was determined to be strong
a single scream that brought the entire city together
an entire city that stood up from the war that almost destroyed them
but the people were not destroyed
because of a single scream
