Chapter Six

   Four years later...

Jade's POV

Okay, today is my first day at my new job. I hope my boss is a nice person and we get along.

"Kat I'm about to leave for work. I don't want to be late for my first day of work."

"Alright Jade. Have a great day today and I hope your boss would be a nice guy".

" Thanks hun, see you later ".

Kat and I found an apartment after college and we moved in together. It's been fun because we have a lot of things in common and it's great living with your best friend. I walked to work because luckily our apartment was 10 minutes away from work. As I got closer to White Corporation I marveled at how the building rose above the ground. I entered the building and went to the receptionist.

" Good morning. Please I am here to see Mr. White. I'm his new personal secretary ".

" Good morning. What is your name?"

"Jade Collins".

" Alright. Mr White's office is in the twelfth floor. You will be met by the Human Resource Manager when you get there. He will show you your office and introduce you to Mr White. Have a lovely day ".

" Thanks a lot. What's your name?"

"Glenda. I hope we can be friends". She said while smiling.

" Yeah I would love that". I replied and smiled too.

I walked ahead and took the elevator to the twelfth floor. As soon as the door opened I was met by a man who stretched out his hand and introduced himself.

"I'm Mark Black the Human Resource Manager. Are you Jade Collins?"

"Yes Mr Black I am Jade Collins. Nice to meet you".

" Alright. As you know your boss is Lucas White and you will be his personal secretary. You will handle everything he asks you to do as well as help him. This is your office and you can decorate it however you like. Mr White's office is the one opposite to yours. He would be in very soon. Do you have any questions? "

"Thank you Mr Black. When do I get off work?"

"That would depend on whether you have any extra work to do for Me White but otherwise you can get off at 5:00pm. Any other questions?"

"No more questions." I replied.

"Great, so you can set up in your office and ...ooh here comes Mr White".

I heard the elevator door open and I turned to look at the man who would become my boss. As soon as I saw his face I froze, literally.

" Holy shit". I whispered to myself but it seemed like I had shouted it out to the whole world. He froze, looked at me and his eyes widened in shock.

"Jade this is Mr Lucas White your boss. Lucas this is your new personal secretary Jade". Mr Black made the introductions without sensing the turmoil brewing between Mark..oh wait Lucas and I.

Lucas' POV

Oh. My. God. Jade is right in front of me. She knows I'm Lucas not Mark. Of course you idiot, Mark just told her so. I can't seem to say anything so Jade extended her hand to me.

" Good morning sir I'm Jade Collins. "

I finally found my voice and greeted her too
"Good morning I'm Lucas White".

" Great, now that everyone has met we can get on with the day". Mark spoke to the both of us still oblivious to the tension between us.  "Jade let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Lucas I would like a word with you in your office".

" Ummm yeah sure. Jade I would let you know what to do after I speak to Mark. Let's go Mark".

"Yes sir, whatever you say". Jade replied.

I could still see the shock in her eyes but she was trying so hard to mask it. I entered my office with Mark, closed the door and let out a big sigh.

" Mark remember the girl I told you about? About four years ago when I stopped by that bar on my way back from that business meeting?"

"Yeah..about three or four years ago right? Lolx dude you told her you were called Mark. Why do you ask?"

"Do you remember what her name was?"

"Naa I don't. Why all these questions by the way?". Mark asked looking a bit lost.

I sighed. " I'm asking because that girl is...Jade Collins my new personal secretary "

Mark looked shocked for a minute. "Her Jade? Your hot new secretary Jade? Is this karma or what? Wait...you told her you were Mark so by meeting us both she found out that you lied to her. Oh man what are you going to do?"

"I don't know". I said while rubbing my temples with my hands. " I thought I would never see her again and now this. I don't think an apology would do...or would it?"

"Luke I don't think so too. You have to find a way to make it up to her". I have to go. Work it out and let me know what you'll do".

" Alright talk to you later ".

After Mark stepped out I sat for a few minutes then I called Jade's office.

" Mr White's office who I'm I speaking to? "

"Miss Collins its Mr White. Please come to my office right now."

"Okay sir I'm on my way". She answered.

I used the time waiting for Jade to form an apology in my head but they all sounded dumb. I was starting to get nervous when I heard her knock.

" Come in".

She entered and said "What can I do for you sir?"

I couldn't speak.
