Confused

I was pretty sure that if my mom hadn't of interrupted Derek and I back there, he most likely would have kissed me. The question is: why? I'm not attractive and I'm not the kind of girl he goes for. He's the 'hit it and quit it' type of guy. I've heard enough rumors about him to know exactly the type of person he is. He uses girls just to get one thing. I'm the nobody at school and all the girls would kill to be with him. We only spoke unless it was about this stupid project.  I was confused at the mystery that was Derek Barlow.

What if he had been my first kiss? The thought quickly left my mind. I hastily ran upstairs to lay down on my bed. The weird thing was that I actually felt something when he was that close to me. Like a weird tingly feeling inside. I decided to take a hot shower to relieve the mix of emotions I was feeling.

The warm water relaxed my muscles. I couldn't stop thinking about Derek's black hair and green eyes. I was  nervous but kinda happy that we'd meet up again tomorrow. I started thinking about how I would miss him when the project was over. It's all stupid, if you think about it. It's just a stupid school-girl crush on a boy who would never take a second look at me.

The next morning, I overslept so I didn't have as much time to get ready. I put on a gray off the shoulder top, jeans, my black converse and threw my hair up lazily into a messy bun. With five minutes to spare, I ran downstairs without much time for breakfast. I grabbed a granola bar on my way out and walked across the street to Kayla and Sam's house. They were getting into their car when they spotted me.

"Overslept?" Kayla smirked.

"Something like that."

We got in the car and Kayla turned the radio on and annoying pop music played through the car.

"So have you decided yet?" Sam looked back at me.

"Have I decided what?" I asked, confused.

"Jason's party, of course. C'mon, Em. He didn't set an invitation list."

"Plus it's senior year!" Kayla piped in.

"Parties aren't really my thing, you guys...." I honestly told them. Jason's parties were known to be way too wild. I didn't feel like spending my weekend with a bunch of drunk, hormonal teenagers. I have only been to one party in high school. It was freshman year and I wanted to actually socialize for once. I stupidly went and had no fun whatsoever.

"It's gonna be so much fun. Derek'll be there!" Kayla looked at me through the rear view mirror. Geez, what was her obsession with this guy? How would she react if she found out that we basically almost swapped spit yesterday? Would she be happy for me or jealous? She didn't strike me as the jealous type but just to be sure, I kept my mouth shut.

"Stop talking about him, Kayla." Sam rolled his eyes. I noticed he seemed to have some type of personal vendetta against Derek. I didn't inquire about it because that's his business.

"Just admit you're jealous," she shot back at him. He just rolled his eyes at her. We spent the rest of the ride in silence.

I got out of the car and walked in the opposite direction of Kayla and Sam. They had a large group of friends. They were the only people in the "popular crowd" that weren't mean to "geeks" like me. The rest laughed at and bullied the "weird" kids. Madison and her two best girlfriends were the type to laugh and bully.

As I walked to my locker, I spotted his leather jacket from the corner of my eye. Of course, he was talking to some blonde girl he'd probably sleep with tonight. I rolled my eyes at the thought. I closed my locker and made my way to class to be early to English. I sat in the front, as usual. Nobody was in the room yet but a minute after my arrival, Mrs. Benson walked in and greeted me. I picked at my nails until the bell ring and the class had started walking in. I noticed that Derek didn't come to class. He was probably skipping, like he usually does.

The class dragged on what felt like forever. I could hear Madison's giggling from all the way in the front.

At lunchtime I sat by myself, like usual at a secluded table. I spotted Derek with his two friends laughing at an underclassmen.

"What a jerk," I whispered under my breath. As if he heard me from across the cafeteria, his green eyes met mine. Jolts of electricity shot up my arms and straight to my heart. His black hair was perfectly gelled. The stubble on his face moved as he smiled. He made plain t-shirts and jeans look hot. I looked away but I took another peek at him while sipping my drink. I saw him standing up and saying something to Kyle and Logan. He was walking toward the side of the cafeteria that I was on. A chair scraped the floor. Derek flipped it around so he could straddle it next to me.

"We're meeting again right?" A deep, husky voice mumbled next to me.

"Shouldn't you be getting high in the bathroom?" I said without thinking. I mentally slapped myself. He laughed. I liked his laugh; it tickled my insides. My fingers twitched in my lap.

"We do it in the parking lot now."

"Well, to answer your previous question, yes we're still meeting again." I finally looked at him. His eyes were planted on my face and for a split second moved down to my lips before looking at me again.

"We're meeting at my house," he stated. He didn't ask. Almost like it was a command.

"And what makes you think I'd agree to that?"

"Because if you don't, you'll fail." He smiled at me. The crinkles by his eyes made him look like a little boy; in a cute way. He got me with that one.

"Fine, but I'm not staying long." I made it clear to him I would only stay for about an hour because I have other homework as well.

"Fine." And with that he stood up, took one last look at me and walked to his two friends who were currently staring at me.

Not interesting, I know. The next one will be though. Sorry for not updating. I'll try to at least once a week. More if possible :)
