The crowd walked in a single file line through the ally way, to their own dorms to begin the day. I walked back with rage, fear and sadness. When I finally remembered about my life, I found out that it was a lie.
"Hey, you SIC?" Beth asked just as I was about to enter the dorm. The senior dorms were furthered away from the window than the junior ones.
"Uh huh, why?"
"Well, you're the first SIC we've had!" She said. "When we strike, and we will, it's good to have someone in power."
"Wait, what do you mean when we strike?"
"You'll see next week. I haven't told anyone yet." She said. "It's crazy good!"
"Okay. Well, nice to meet you!" I said and entered the dorm.
"Mornin sunshine!" Pika said, her hair in all different directions, just like everyone else's.
"Good morning, Sa-- Pika."
Her expression changed.
"Get ready everyone!" She yelled and everyone got out of bed and made their way towards the bathrooms.
"You, come with me." She held my arm and dragged me to the back of the room. The room was empty now, the white walls looking dull with the morning.
"How do you know?" She asked, pressing my back against the wall.
"I... I don't know what you're talking about." I said.
"Don't lie to me. You know my name is Samantha. I've never told anyone about that stupid name. How do you know? You some kind of psychic?"
"No! No, just let me explain!"
She let me go an we both sat down on the nearest bed.
"Look at this." I said, showing her the two bracelets I woke up with. "Do they seem familiar?"
"No, never seen them before."
"Well, you... You gave them to me."
"No I didn't, you had them on when we first met!"
"How do you think we got here?" I asked. "Have you never wondered about your life before this?"
"Of corse I have, but I have learnt to live with the questions for two years."
Okay, Sammy was my best friend. I had to tell her. She was also SIC, wouldn't she also be an asset to the Visionaries?
So I told her.
Not about the Visionaries, just about the Visions.
"No way, pumpkin." She said. "That's not possible."
"Yes it is."
"Prove it."
"Sammy, trust me. We used to be best friends!"
Her eyes turned from suspicious to soft.
"Only my best friend called me Sammy. She was the only one I let call me that."
"I know. It was me."
She pulled me into a hug.
"I knew it." She whispered.
The gong went off again. We we're supposed to be at Training right now. The two of us hopped to our feet and jumped into our training gear and clothes and ran to the training room.
I thought about what I had just done. I had told a non-visionary about the Remembering, the window, but most of all, about the secret group of people waiting to strike.
I had either brought in a major asset to the Visionaries, or I had just ruined everything.
