The stained knife fell to the floor with a clank. Sans stared at the little child sprawled out on the tiled surface of the Judgement hall with curiosity. The girl was clutching their head as if they were trying to stop it from falling apart, whimpering all the while.

Her features finally froze in place, landing on Frisk with her blue and magenta outfit. Then she went limp.

After a few minutes of silence as Sans sat on the floor, glad to do nothing, the girl on the ground slowly stood up.

"W-wow... I-I don't u-understand..." Frisk cautiously shook herself and got to her feet. She found the knife on the floor aswell as Sans nearby. "W-what happened?" she questioned.

"If this is a joke, it's not a very funny one..." replied the skeleton with a single tear sliding down his solid cheekbone, "Why are you doing this? Just to torment me farther?"

"N-no... I-I don't k-know... S-Sans...? W-where are w-we...? A-and why are y-you so sad...?" Frisk stood -still quivering- and stumbled over to Sans as slight realization hit her, "W-what are we doing in the J-Judgement Hall...? Why am I s-so shaky...?"

Sans just looked at the girl, then wiped his skull, confusion filling up his face as he caught her from almost falling over, "You don't know what happened? You... you didn't have to do with it at all?"

"I-I don't understand..." Frisk looked at their feet as they held Sans to keep steady.

Sans' arms were at his side. He slowly brought them up to bring the frightened child into a hug. His gleaming left eye extinguished as he became normal again, holding Frisk tight. He didn't quite understand the situation, but he knew that she was all he had left. After what happened to the others with WHATEVER was controlling Frisk, he didn't want to lose anything else. He probably wouldn't be able to stay sane if that happened.

"Well, what was the last thing you remember? I will explain the circumstances after you tell me," finally answered Sans. He thought that if this really was who he hoped it was, then better spit everything out. That is, unless this is one of those back-stabbing tricks Chara does...

"W-well, I was l-looking at the sun with you, Papyr-"

"Stop please... don't say their names, just, don't," Sans cut off, not wanting to be reminded of the friends and family he once had in another time.

"O-okay..." she hugged Sans even tighter, noticing the mournful tone in his voice, "I opened the barrier, set the m-monsters free, and then... it reset. After waking up on the golden flowers, I... I... um... my memory ends at that. W-well, I did talk to Flowey again, then it's just b-black..."

"Okay. So, you don't know anything else?"

"Nope... s-sorry..."

"It's okay kid... you did nothing wrong," comforted Sans, trying his best to not make them feel guilty for THEIR doing.

"What, um... w-what happened here then? Do you know? A-and why aren't you making puns?" continued the child.

"Welp, figured you'd realize that. Heh. Ahem, better get comfy, cause this may take a while," Sans started, leaning up against a piller as he let go of the girl. He then sat on the floor with his hands shoved in his pockets, in preparation for the untold story, because no one was alive to tell it.
