Chapter one-First year troubles
"Oi you!" I yelled at a nearby short person, assuming he was a first year. When he didn't turn around I continued to shout. "You with the blond hair and green shirt!" He turned around with a raised eyebrow and pointed to himself. "Yes you shorty! Co- no! Do not turn away while I'm talking to you! Get your arse over here! Don't walk aw-ARGH!"
"First year troubles?" A voice drawled as the owner threw an arm over my shoulder. I scowled up at the smirking boy.
"Yes!" I said ducking out from under his arm, "this years newbies just don't respect there elders like they should!"
Sirius Black chuckled causing my scowl to deepen. I punched his shoulder. "It's not funny! Do you know what this means? I have to carry my own trunk!" I let out a frustrated squawk that was echoed by my owl as he ruffled his feathers in an attempt to make himself look bigger, and glared at me with his beady eyes.
"Not now Kitty*," I said patting his cage as my eyes raced over every student in the station.
Sirius let out a long sigh and I could just imagine him raking his fingers through his hair. They just went together. "Do you want me to carry your stuff?" I whirled on him and he added quickly, "but not your owl. I refuse to go anywhere near that-that thing after what happened last time."
"Aw it wasn't Kitty's fault," I cooed as I turned to the small light brown owl, "now was it?"
"Like f*** it wasn't," Sirius said. I laughed and he grabbed my trunk pulling it down to the compartment where his things were already stored. Looking around I saw Remus's trunk as well and figured he was out saying goodbye to his parents. Sirius and I, the loving parents missing from our lives, settled in. I quickly claimed the spot near the window facing forward, while Sirius sat right across from me. For a while we just sat there as I stared intently at a cute boy, willing him to look at me.
Sirius cleared his throat. When I didn't look away he continued to talk. "Good summer?"
I snorted in a very unlady-like matter as I looked over at him. "Horrible but presumably better than yours," I said, "I'm in with another foster family."
"Ouch," someone said from the doorway and our hands snapped over to see James, his black hair a mess and his glasses sliding down his face, "who is it this time?" He plopped down beside Sirius. Behind him entered Remus who sat down next to me and pulled out Hogwarts: a history, but I knew he was still paying attention as I went on to explain whom I'd now been saddled with.
"It's an older, muggle couple who realized to late they wanted a child. They figured they wouldn't be able to handle a younger child so they chose me-"
"Wait muggle? I thought muggles didn't know about the orphanage?" James questioned.
"Chloe owed them a favor and they knew she owned some type of orphanage," I said shaking my head so my hair fell into my face before going on angrily, "they expect me to act all lady-like and prim and proper, with fancy dresses and no burping and definitely no sports or pranks of any sort. Not only that but they tried to take me out of Hogwarts!"
There was a collective gasp and even Remus closed his book and stared at me in shock.
"Oh no they didn't." James snapped his fingers and put a hand on his hip, earning a giggle before I sobered back
"Yeah they tried. They didn't know I was a witch so they wanted me to go to public school so they could spend more time with me." I sighed. "So Chloe came down and convinced them it was an etiquette school for young lady's with no boys-"
"We'll they're going to know that's a lie when you come home!"
I ignored Sirius and continued on. "-and I now have to spend every moment outside of school with them until they decide."
