"Twenty percent of her body is covered in scar tissue." The doctor informed Moira Queen solemnly. "She has second degree burns over her arms and back and we've found at least twenty fractures that never properly healed."
Olivia stood next to the huge window in the skyscraper hospital. Pink puckered scars peeked out from her grey Starling Memorial tank top. Her eyes sparkled in the reflection of the city lights. An ache had spread through her chest, the pangs of homesickness returning.
"Has she said anything about what happened?" Moira looked through the glass at her daughter.
"No. She's barley said anything at all." The doctor rested a hand on Mrs. Queens shoulder, and her turned, eyes glistening. "Moira, you'd better prepare yourself. The Olivia you lost may not be the one they found."
She nodded, her breath hitching in her throut. She placed a slim hand the door handle and pushed into the private room.
At the noise, Olivia turned around, facing her mother.
"Olivia?" She greeted hesitantly, her arms extended.
"Mom." A tear slipped down her cheek as she stepped stiffly into the hug.
Moira blinked in surprise as she felt the taut muscles that wrapped around Olivia's entire body. Before, Olivia had enjoyed getting toned with the latest trend exercise, but these were different. This strength was a necessity for survival. Moira stepped away and looked up at Olivia. At almost six foot, she was taller than Mrs. Queen. Moira cupped her daughters face, her thumb brushing over a new scar on Olivia's forehead.
"How about we go home, baby?"
