Chapter 2: Another Chance

It had exactly been a week since our encounter. Since then, I've only been seeing her in their trainings, whenever it is time for us to use the gym. I still can't get over how dumb I must have seemed last week. She must think i'm weird now, which is.....not good.

I had just been informed today that the annual ateneo bonfire will be held tomorrow at the Bellarmine field. I guess it's a good way to get my mind off things. Off her.

My teammates and I decided to play a game, whoever gets to the gym the latest, lunch will be on him. I warned them that I didn't have much money with me but I still accepted the challenge. I was actually ahead when someone spoke behind me and so I faced backwards:

Teammate: Huy thirds! Ayaw mo talaga manlibre eh noh! HAHAHA!
Thirdy: Talaga! Wala nga kasi akon- UY!

I stumbled in the nearest bush while the person I had run into slipped too and was now laying in the sidewalk. After I had recovered a little, I went to the person and realized it was girl. (Damn it, thirdy. A girl!) And so I realized who it was.

Bea.

I walked as fast as I could until I had reached her.

Bea: Ahh-owww... (holding her knee)
Thirdy: Bea! I'm really really sorry! I'll bring you to the clinic now!

And I carried her. Oh, God knows how long I've been waiting to do this. But now is not the time to think about that. She's hurt because of me. We've reached the clinic and the nurse is now aiding her.

Thirdy: Oh my god. I don't know what to say. I'm really really sorry. It was really dumb and stupid of me to not-
Bea: (tapped me in the shoulder) Don't worry about it. Kasalanan ko din hindi ako umiwas nung nakita kong paparating kayo. Sorry din. (smiles)
Thirdy: Please don't be sorry. You don't know how much my conscience is killing me.

She just smiled a little and I brought her back to her dorm. Before she entered, I said,

Thirdy: Bea, again, I'm really sorry. I promise I'll be careful next time.
Bea: You should because you surely weren't with me. (she said coldly.)
Thirdy: Look bea, i-I'm really really-
Bea: I was just kidding thirds! Move on na tayo! Hahaha!
Thirdy: You scared me there. Haha! Anyways bea, are you coming to the bonfire tomorrow?
Bea: Of course! Why?
Thirdy: Umm, can I hang out with you? ( there. I said it. ) I mean, hindi naman buong time magkasama tayo, just-

Bea: Sure. (smiles)

Oh that smile again. She can be so- Wait! What did she just say?! Did she just say yes to me?!

Thirdy: Yes?! Really?!
Bea: Ayaw mo?! O sige binabawi ko na. Pasok na ko.
Thirdy: Uyy, of course not!! Haha! Thank you bea!! Thank you talaga! (smiles)
Bea: Tuwang-tuwa ka ata. (laughs) Para kang sinagot ng nililigawan mo ah. (laughs again)

Thirdy: ( Parang ganon na nga. Soon bea. )
Bea: O sige na. I'll.. Go ahead. See you tomorrow?
Thirdy: Yeah. See you tomorrow. (smiles)

She just nodded and I watched her until she was no longer in sight. And then I jumped. Literally jumped! I just did not know how to contain my joy!

I know I said the bonfire was a way for me to get my mind off her a bit. But I guess that may not be happening anytime soon.
