"So, what happened," Orville asked Cameron, utterly confused.
"Well, I think I got captured by them because when I woke up I was in ancient Rome. They told me to get the piece from you guys or my family dies, but someone helped me.
I met Junia who was the one who helped me and explained my so called 'mission', to find the pieces.
At first, I forced her to make it seem as if we knew each other, before she even explained everything, when Orville was trying to find you. I then came to my senses and took my part in this assignment," Cameron said, trying to remember more details.
Adiba was not totally convinced, she still hated him, but she kept shut.
"Adiba, open the book," Orville said, nudging her with her elbow.
Adiba opened the cover of the book to the first page, and there it was, the second piece.
"Sweet. Now, let's get this over with and jump to the next civilization, I'm hungry," Cameron said, his stomach grumbling.
Orville groaned. "I forgot to get something to eat."
While the two were chit chatting, Adiba noticed something strange.
When they were in Egypt, they spoke and understood the Egyptian language. However, when the Senate talked, Adiba didn't have a clue on what they had said. The Romans spoke Latin, so they must have been speaking in Latin.
A light blinded there eyes, and Adiba covered her eyes.
"I'm going to kill you one of these days!" Adiba shouted.
And just like that, they got transported to another ancient civilization, with Orville and Cameron nervous for the outcome of Adiba.
Ω
"Alright! Alright! I promise we won't do it again!" both Orville and Cameron shouted repeatedly, wanting whatever was going on to stop.
"Jeez, one idiot was bad enough but now two!?" Adiba said, shaking her head.
She moved that thought aside and looked up and focused on her surroundings.
Their were houses that were built that were generally small with walled gardens or courtyards in the center. The roofs were made with clay tiles. The windows were small and had no glass. They were covered in wood shutters, as to keep the scorching sun away.
"No way, we're in ancient Greece," Adiba said, looking around in awe.
Both Cameron and Orville got up, looking around as well.
Adiba immediately looked down at what she was wearing, and instantly regretted it.
She wore one large piece of wool, or maybe linen, was wrapped around her and pinned in various ways to make it stay.
She looked over at Orville and saw she had the same thing, these dresses came down to their ankles, even for younger girls.
Cameron on the other hand wore a tunic, a sort of knee-length t-shirt made of wool or linen tied with a belt at the waist. The fold of cloth was used over the belt as a pocket.
Often, as in this statuette, they wore their tunic only over one shoulder, as a himation.
"That's the Parthenon," Adiba pointed out, about .5 miles from where they were.
Cameron spoke up. "Can we eat first? I'm starving over here."
Orville groaned in agreement.
Adiba rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Fine! Go. And while your at it, try to forget that we have a reason to be here," Adiba said while walking towards the Parthenon, sarcasm dripping into every word.
Both Orville and Cameron were left stunned.
They quickly ran to a nearby shop to get something to eat when they realized something.
"I don't have any money!" both of then said at the same time, slightly disappointed.
Cameron cautiously looked left and right, taking a deep breath.
When no one was looking, he grabbed the two plates of food that we're there, running off and telling Orville to follow.
"What the hell, Cameron!?" Orville said as they ran back to Adiba, who was near the entrance.
Once they reached where Adiba was, both of them caught people following them.
Cameron quickly passed Orville a plate.
"Hurry. Eat."
Orville didn't care what she was eating, she stuffed her face with the delicious food.
Adiba went inside the Parthenon, leaving the two to eat.
After a few seconds, both Orville and Cameron followed, and their mouths hung open.
"Woah."
Inside was a marvelous stair of the goddess Athena herself.
" The temple's main function was to shelter the monumental statue of Athena that was made by Pheidias out of gold and ivory," Adiba informed them.
They only nodded.
The Parthenon itself was made from massive foundations, were made of limestone, and the columns were made of Pentelic marble, a material that was utilized for the first time.
As the three of them looked around, they saw a familiar face.
Flashback:
"Momma Tanisha!" Orville said in a high pitched voice.
Tanisha rolled her eyes while laughing.
-------------
"Help me, Tanisha, Orville's trying to choke me!" Adiba said while laughing, hiding behind her.
"Again!?" Tanisha said.
End of Flashback
"Tanisha is also here!?" Orville said.
Cameron was absolutely confused.
Both girls went towards Tanisha, knowing that she could help them.
"Um, hello! My name is Orville, what's your name?" Orville said, sticking out her hand.
"In Adiba," Adiba introduced herself.
"And I'm Cameron," Cameron said, waving.
Tanisha took Orville's hand, her face serious.
"Hello, everyone. My name is Tasia. Come with me," she said, beckoning then to follow.
Just as they we're about to go, Cameron's eyes widened to the size of saucers.
"Um, I kinda did something that involves stealing. Would it be a wrong time to say that we have a group of angry people following us?"
If looks could kill, Cameron would be dead millions of times.
"Idiot! Why would you even do that!?" Adiba said, as calmly and quietly as she could since the people had just entered the Parthenon.
"I was hungry?" Cameron said, trying to defend himself.
They were getting closer, weapons being visible.
"You're going to get us killed on one of these trips," Adiba said angrily.
"C'mon, let's hurry before they see us," Tasia said, her walk turning into a sprint.
Adiba gave one last glare full of anger at Cameron and followed.
Cameron gulped, but then quickly followed, not noticing that he had just attracted their attention.
Oh, Cameron. You are so dead.
