TARO POV
I was walking through the woods one day and saw a cliff up ahead. I stopped and stared over the cliff and saw a field below. I shrugged my shoulders and turned around only to come face to face with a rattlesnake. It stared at me for a minute before lunging forward. I stepped out of the way only to fall down the cliff.
I tumbled this way and that as I fell down the giant hill and came to a stop at the bottom. I groaned as I sat up and shook my head. I used my hands to fix my hair and made sure nothing was wrong with my ears. I turned around and saw a giant white and lilac-grey wolf standing before me.
I felt my ears flatten against my head and my tail poof out before I hissed at it. I glared hard and it just stared into my eyes. I started to feel uncomfortable and soon ran away. I was running as fast as my small legs would carry me and I felt the trees hitting against my body as I ran off.
I soon came to a stop at the edge of the woods and saw my uncle's house up ahead. I entered the gate and ran up the long driveway before running inside and closing the door.
"Taro? Is that you," I heard my uncle's voice call out for me.
"Yeah." I answered back. He came into the room and took one look at me before running over.
"What happened? You're all scratched up. Even your ears and tail are dirty!"
"I looked over the side of a huge hill, almost a cliff if you ask me, and when I turned around there was a snake. I fell down the hill avoiding it."
"But you have tree leaves in your hair," he said as he started taking them out.
"I was running away. I saw a wolf and it was just staring at me."
"A wolf!? Taro, don't go that far again. You're still small, not to mention look like a cat, I don't want you getting attacked by something that's natural instincts hates felines."
"But uncle-"
"No buts. Go upstairs and take a shower while I cook dinner."
"I wanted to cook."
"But you have to shower."
"But I hate water."
"Typical." He turned towards the living room and put a hand around his mouth. "Tomo! Can you get your brother to take a shower!"
My twin brother ran into the room and tackled me in a hug. I tried to et away but his grip tightened.
"You're home!"
"Yeah. Now let go!"
"Promise to go take a shower and I will."
"Fine if it will get you off of me!" He let go and my uncle patted his head, being careful of the ears, before he went to the kitchen.
"Tomo. I want you to get in after he's out okay?" My uncle made it to the kitchen and I yawned before heading upstairs.
"I think I'll take a cat nap while I wait for you," Tomo said as he yawned also. I just waved him off and walked to the bathroom before I got inside the shower.
I stood under the running water and let the warm water hit my skin as I stared at the ground. I placed a hand on my chest and my thoughts drifted back to that wolf.
"What's going on," I asked myself as I thought about the giant creature. He may have been dangerous, but he was stunningly beautiful.
I sighed and quickly washed off before getting out and going to my bedroom to dry off and get dressed.
MINI TIME SKIP
It was after dinner and my brother, uncle, and I were in the living room playing video games against each other. We were using the Wii to bowl one another and I was ahead by three strikes.
I just sent them smirks as we reached frame ten. I had a seven-ten split to get but I've made it before. I smirked as I got ready to obtain this spare and one more strike. I lined up the line with where I want the ball to go, made sure my wrist was straight, pulled back the ball, and-
DING DONG!
I let go of the ball but my wrist curved from the sudden noise and it went straight into the gutter. My jaw dropped as the screen said I was done. My brother started laughing and my uncle went to answer the door. He came back shortly after with a letter.
"What's that," Tomo asked as he jumped up and down on the couch.
"This," my uncle started while putting a hand on Tomo's head to keep him still, "is a letter for you two."
"For us," I asked as I grabbed the letter and opened it.
"What's it say," Tomo asked. I cleared my throat before reading aloud.
"Dear Ida Brothers,
We have been made aware of your kind and would like to invite you to study at Hybrid High. We have the finest teachers, dorms, and, as the name suggests, are a special school for hybrids. We would like to invite you to stay at the dorms, cost free, and attend the school on scholarships.
Taro is available for his outstanding musical abilities, and Tomo is available for his wonderful academic abilities.
Please think about the offer and give us a call within three days. Our summer break ends in a week and it would be an honor to have the two of you join us as members of the Hybrid High family.
Sincerely,
The Head of Admissions and Chairman at Hybrid High""Wow! A school for hybrids? Like us," Tomo asked.
"That's what it says," I replied.
"It also says I'm wonderful."
"But it also says I'm outstanding," I smirked. He stuck out his tongue at me and I saw our uncle thinking. "What are you thinking about Uncle?"
"This could be good for both of you. You can actually make friends for once. The only downside is that I'll miss my boys."
My brother smiled and hugged him while I just sat beside them before I was forced to join in.
"Uncomfortable now, people touching me," I said.
"Oh come on. We aren't that bad," my uncle said.
"Meh. You aren't," Tomo piped up with a goofy grin. We all just laughed and Tomo and I eventually decided to go to the school. We gave the school a call with the number attached to the letter and we were leaving in six days.
We're definitely in for an adventure.
