After the first four months of school, Niall's popularity was sky rocketing. He was already the most popular guy in school, maybe even more popular than Roger, who was someone you did not want to mess with. Everyone knew Niall. His name was said everywhere. Even if you're walking down the halls, you'll occasionally hear Niall's name. Most people knew Niall's motto, "If Niall Horan wants it, he gets it." And if you didn't know it, you'd find out soon. Niall was never turned down. Ever. Everyone wanted to be his girlfriend, or at least get in his pants. All the guys were dying to be him. He was pretty much the star of the school.
Me and him never talked ever since that last encounter. I see him in the halls when going to class, but he's usually with a different girl every time.
You know how the popularity scale works. You have the low ones who are like nerds, freaks, goths. Whatever. Then you have Niall who's all the way to the top. Then there's me. I'm in the middle. Middle isn't so bad. The middle people are the people who you know, like you know their names, maybe talked to them once or twice, but never really payed much attention to them. Their not ignored, but their not constantly surrounded by a group of people either. Their just normal kids. Not popular, but not weirdos.
But most of the time, the popular kids don't talk to the normal kids. That's just how it goes.
I'll admit now that I had sort of a crush on him ever since he came to our school. There's something about him that makes you want to get to know him more. I mean, he's not the nicest guy you'll meet. Hell, he's a full on douche bag. But he still gives off this positive energy that makes it nearly impossible to not like him. He has such a funny sense of humor, and his laugh makes you want to laugh, even if you didn't know what was so funny. His toned tanned arms, and the way his freckles dot parts of his face, are irresistible. There's no point trying to fight the urge of wanting him because it's no use. Somehow those blue eyes appear in your mind, and eventually make their way down to your heart, and by that point you're attached.
...
I get into my first class of the day. It's a surprisingly cool day today, cool enough to wear jeans and a sweater. As I walk in the classroom, I sit next to Connor. He smiles at me.
"Hey Nor"
"Hey Connor"
"Okay so I have some exciting news, this weekend me and you are going to a party!"
He nearly jumps out of his seat. Now Connor isn't that popular, but he's popular enough to get us into party's.
"Really?! That's great! I can't wait."
I honestly love going to party's. Just the thrill of it makes it fun.
"Yeah I know, pick out something good to wear, mr. asshole is going."
I know he's talking about Niall and my stomach does a flip flop. Even hearing Niall's name makes me flutter inside. I'll have to look nice if Niall is going, maybe he'll finally notice me.
After another bullshit day of school, I get home and call Kim.
"Hey Kim, wanna go shopping? I really have to get something to wear for this party on Saturday"
"Yeah! I'll come by to pick you up in about 15 minutes"
"Okay thanks"
I hang up and redo some of my makeup that smeared throughout the day. I walk downstairs and head to the kitchen to grab a snack.
Alex is sitting on the stool, staring at his food.
"Hey Nora, can I ask you something.."
The tense in his voice makes me nervous
"Yeah sure."
"Would it be a bad thing if mom and dad are fighting.."
"Don't worry about it, everyone gets into little arguments once in a while."
"I know but it just seems like lately they won't stop."
"I can promise you nothing is going on. It's just a little fighting. It'll be okay."
As I finish my sentence, I hear a beep outside.
"Remember what I said, okay champ?"
He nods and smiles and I grab my granola bar and head out.
On the way there she asks me about Connor.
"So are you guys like dating or something?"
"Connor?! No way! He's one of my best friends. Nothing more."
"Oh.. What about Niall?"
"Niall.. Well uh I mean I like him but he never even looks my way. How do you expect me to have a relationship with him?"
She giggles as the realization hits her.
"I'll tell you what, I'm going to help you pick out the best outfit today, so Niall Horan will regret if he didn't look your way."
I hit her arm.
"You're the best."
"I know I know." she beams.
As we get to the mall, and walk into Jc Penny's, I'm scared I won't be able to find anything. Hopefully Kim is as good at finding clothes as she makes herself sound to be.
