The sounding of my alarm wakes me up right away from my light sleep. I get up from my bed, wishing I could sleep just a little bit longer.
Today's the day. First day of senior year. I'm somewhat nervous yet excited, knowing that this is the year I have to study hard if I want to go to a good college.
I've been wanting to get into West Lake University, but for that you need to have a high IQ. Hopefully ill be able to show everyone that I have what it takes.
My thoughts are interrupted by my mom screaming my name.
"Nora!" She yells again.
I groan and walk downstairs, smelling bacon and eggs. She loves cooking everything there is. From macaroni and cheese to beef wellington, she cooks it all.
"What" I say as I walk into the kitchen. She already has a plate ready for me.
"Aren't you excited?!" She practically screams.
"Of course" I reply, gnawing on a piece of bacon. I'm really not that hungry this morning.
She smiles and goes back to her cooking. After a long period of silence she finally says something.
"Your dad will be taking you this morning."
Of course my car has to be getting fixed on the first day of school.
"Why, what are you doing?" I retort. I hate when my dad takes me places. He asks to many questions.
"I have to take Alex to school, remember."
I sigh. My 13 year old brother is a little brat. If you were to tell him no, he would shrug it off and keep doing what he's doing. That's what age he's at, and I hate it. He thinks he's so cool when really he's not.
I get up from the counter and wander upstairs. I really have to start getting ready if I want to make it to school on time.
I go to the bathroom and take a quick shower. The warm water soothes my tense muscles. I really am nervous.
I get out of the bathroom and go to my room. I look through my closet. I don't even know what to wear.
After looking for what seemed like forever, I finally picked out a cropped top and high shorts. It's still hot in Nevada, even though summers over. I walk over to the mirror and brush a comb through my long, brown hair and blow dry it. I really have to hurry. It's already 7:15 and I have to be at school by 7:40.
I take my straightener out and straighten my hair. My hair is naturally wavy so it shouldn't take that long. After about 15 minutes my hair is straightened. I want to be a little earlier to school than I usually am so I walk downstairs.
My dad is waiting for me by the door, talking to my mom.
"Hey, there's my girl" he says, with a wide grin.
"You ready kiddo?"
"Yes dad" I reply.
I put some flip flops on and kiss my mom goodbye and walk out the door. The blazing sun hits me and I already start to sweat. Good thing I put a lot of perfume on today.
We get to my dads car and we both get in.
It feels like I sat into a sauna.
"Dad please put the air on" I whine.
"Okay okay" he says and chuckles.
"Someone is antsy this morning."
"Who me?" I jokingly ask.
He laughs again and puts the air on. I smile and close my eyes.
I begin to think..
Who will be at my school this year? Will there be new students? Will people still like me? Am I going to make new friends?
