Chapter 2~
~ Reborn
*unedited*
I look into Connie's eyes, a sense of curiosity taking over me. All of a sudden, a sly smile spreads across her face.
"Party at the Gump, up for it?" Connie is nearly bursting with excitement, and I understand why. The Gump is a very large hall like room in the school, but it was hidden well. So well that you wouldn't know about it unless you were told.
Basically, if you wanted to have a party, or a smoke session, anything really, you'd go to one of the three key holders, the only people who could open the Gump to the public. I was one of them. It was kind of a huge responsibility.
I'm not really sure where the name of the place came from though.
"Do you even have to ask?" I fist bump Connie, and we leave the barren classroom.
After a few minutes of walking and chatting, we stop at one of the three entrances to the Gump. Inserting my bedazzled key into the lock, the door slides open.
Soft pop music thumps in the background, and
paired with the relaxed chatter of the handful of residents, made the place feel like a lounge.I think that the teachers knew about the Gump, but none of them ever tried to come in or really find out about it.
As I walk through with Connie, I look down to see a few people playing twister on the ground. Not paying attention caused me to trip and catapult into someone.
I grunt and looked up into the same icy blue eyes from earlier and I roll my own. He was expecting an apology for bumping into him but I wasn't going to say anything and neither did he.
Part of me was shocked that he knew about the Gump already, but then I realized that people were probably rushing to tell him about it.
I start to walk away, and I notice the bewildered expression on Connie's face, and I give her a somewhat stank look.
"What?" I demand.
"That was Asher!" She shrieks and I look at her pointedly.
"I know. And?" I really don't understand all of the hype surrounding this boy.
Connie purses her lips and shakes her head.
I feel the burn of someone's stare in the back of my skull.
I whip my head around with a stank look on my face. Again Asher is staring at me. I literally growl at him, and he raises his eyebrows at me.

Since it's a Friday afternoon, Connie and I have been down at the Gump for a few hours now. The once soft pop music has been changed to party music with a thumping beat. I dance alone most of the time, unless it's with Connie. She, like the other girls here dance on the guys.I would never admit this to anyone, but I don't have the guts to do that. Especially what happened with Jason. I push the thoughts of him out of my mind, reminding myself that I don't need a boy in my life to make me happy. I really just need myself.
Sweat plasters my thick, raven colored hair to my face. I wipe it off of my forehead and cheeks.
I glance up to a corner of the room and see those same blue eyes. Only he's not staring at me this time. He's just watching the partygoers like the huge creep that he probably is.
In need of a drink, I walk over to one of the ice filled coolers. I grab a bottle of water(surprise surprise) rather than a beverage containing alcohol. I take huge gulps and I'm done with it in no time. I crumple the plastic in my hands and wipe my mouth.
"Thirsty, are we?"
I jump at the quiet, masculine voice, wondering how I heard it through all of the noise. I take a step back and scrunch up my face once I realize who it is.
"Why are you talking to me?" I snap at him, crossing my arms over my chest.
I expect shock to filter through his face at the way I spoke to him, but his expression remains the same. A look of awe and curiosity is plastered on his face.
Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Connie, staring at us. What's with all of the staring??
"You're not like other girls," he muses leaning against the handle of one of the coolers. "You're different."
Deciding not to say anything to him, I simply give him a pointed look and stalk away, rolling my eyes.
I make my way over to Connie, whose mouth is wide open. I close it for her, like the great friend I am.
"You were just talking to him." Her voice comes out strangled.
I scoff. "Barely." Even if I did know Asher from being a celebrity, I wouldn't act like a fan girl.

Back in our dorm, I flop on my bed and groan, remembering my date with Logan."What?" Connie asks, combing through the bright pink locks on her head.
"I have a date with Logan next week." I groan again.
A giggle bursts through Connie's lips and look up from my bed, glaring at her.
"You're finally giving him a chance." Her words tremble with laughter. She knows how long Logan's been trailing me. I actually met her when he was talking me to death, and she rescued me, claiming that we had homework to do.
I sit up on my bed and run my fingers through my hair. I lift my shirt over my head and ball it up.
"Whatever Con," I say, throwing my balled up shirt at her.
Yawning, I head to the bathroom to take a shower, and when I pass Connie she throws my shirt back at me.
I stick my tongue out at her and step into the bathroom. In the shower, I wash my hair and body in a lather of hot water and soap.
By the time I get out, I am absolutely exhausted, and I climb into bed. Mumbling goodnight to Connie, I fall asleep seconds later.
