August 3rd

Lily ran ahead of her sister to the playground, dragging her along behind her.
"Come on Petunia!"
Her little sister was struggling to keep up.
"Hurry up Petunia! I have something to show you!"

The bright young redheaded girl stopped at the slide and waited, impatiently for her sister to catch up.

Once her sister had FINALLY caught up, she held out her hand. Petunia placed her hand flat against her own belly.
"I can't breathe give me one minute Lil."
Lily smiled, "Petunia look what I can do!" She closed her eyes and concentrated hard.
Slowly a sprout of green showed out of Lily's palm, then turning white, then yellow as a dandelion took form and blossomed.

"You've got a flower in your hand Lily!" Petunia shrieked delightedly. "You're just like a fairy!"
Lily closed her eyes and nodded. The flower disappeared.
"That's not all I can do, watch this."

Lily jumped on the swing set and kicked her legs hard, so the swing would go as high as it could go.
Then she jumped.

Petunia screamed as Lily fell fast, fearing for her sister. But Lily didn't fall. Instead she hung, suspended in mid air before floating lightly to the ground and landing gracefully on the balls of her feet, smiling all the while.

Petunia tackles her to the ground in a tight hug. "Don't you ever do that again Lily Evans! You scared me half to death! What would mother say?"

Lily lays back in the grass and sighed. "Oh Petunia! I just can't wait to go to Hogwarts!"

Petunia rolled her eyes at the mention of the magical school, slight jealousy rising in her throat.
Ever since Lily got her letter it was "Hogwarts this" and "Diagon Alley that" and "Oh Petunia look what I can do!"
She and Lily had both written to the Headmaster multiple times if Petunia could attend the school as well, as they had never been apart. Not even at school they ate together, played together and did homework together. They were all the other had.
The reply they received was firm but kind. He said she couldn't attend but would not protest to Lily sharing everything she knew with her little sister. Provided it all be kept quiet.

"You're going to Hogwarts?" Lily and Petunia both jumped.
A boy stepped out from behind a tree, he had a hooked nose and wavy shoulder length hair. His eyes were bright and his smile couldn't be concealed.
Lily vaguely recognized him. He was in her class in primary school. They didn't interact.

Petunia rolled her eyes. "Hey you're that boy who lives in the weird house down on Spinners End."

The boy didn't even acknowledge that she had spoken, instead keeping all his attention focused on Lily, who looked curious but frightened.

"What do you know about Hogwarts?" Lily heard herself saying.

He shrugged

"Nothing much, I saw what you did just there. Jumping off the swing? You can do magic too! That's so cool!"

Lily squinted at him, suspiciously.

"I can too watch. Here, I'll prove it."

He pulled out a little cardboard candy box from his pocket and opened it. Inside the gild lined box was a chocolate shaped like a frog. It leaped and Lily screamed.

He laughed and caught it. "Don't worry. They've only got one good jump. Besides its the cards that are my favorite part."

He ripped off the top and handed it to her. A smiling wizard with a long beard and friendly, gleaming blue eyes winked back at her.
"Oh look Dumbledore. I've got quite a few of him, you can have that if you like."
