Harker skidded to a stop in front of the retailer. he was used to seeing the cracked and chipped paint on the walls. The dark blue carpet probably needed a washing. But it didn't bother him all that much.
"Do you have a copy of Eternia Online left?" the game that came out five days ago was by far the most popular thing he had seen since Virtual Reality.
"Yeah, there over there." The lazy man behind the counter jutted his head in the direction of the Fantasy Games shelves.
He walked over to the shelf and picked up the game, it was quite a heavy case. Nearby he saw the system he would need, 'DreamWare VR System' Not as expensive as spending an hour at the local VR arcade, but still a bit pricey.
"How much would the system be?"
"It's about one-hundred and ninety-nine dollars, plus the cost of the headset, it comes out to about two-fifty."
"Hmm, alright."
He pulled his cash out and put it down on the counter. He counted the money and he had just enough to purchase the game and system. He let out a sigh and placed them both on the counter.
The clerk grunted and sat up. He scanned the items. Harker handed him the money.
"Need a reciept?"
"No thanks, don't need it."
Harker walked out of the store, and realized. He didn't have a way to ride his bike and carry the system. He didn't have a basket on his bike, nor did he think to put a backpack on. It was going to a long walk home.

Steven lay in his bed looking over at the system and game he had recieved as a gift from his absent parents.
They had told him the day before "We'll be overseas for a few days, so we got you this to keep you entertained."
He didn't even know what to say and just went to bed early. He barely got up today, save for the times he was eating.
He had plugged the system in and downloaded the hardward about an hour ago. It had dinged not twenty minutes ago telling him it had finished.
Steven closed his eyes and drifted to sleep, dreaming of what might await him tomorrow."
