I had finally finished unpacking all my bags in the morning. I was a little behind, judging by the fact that Kendall, Blake and Mom had their stuff organized days ago. But even that is a little crazy to me; I mean, we'd only been here for two and a half weeks.
A lot had happened in the week and a half since Raine and Kat had gotten into the car accident: Kat and Raine were fine. They didn't have injuries or anything, other than Kat bumping her head from some form of whiplash. As far as I'm concerned, Blake is leaving Jesse alone. Thank god. Kendall is still being the normal little bratty bitch she always is. Raine, although having suffered her near-death experience, is back to sucking Jacob's facing and being forever spontaneous once again. I'd gotten a lot closer to all my new friends, especially Mariah and Jesse. And lastly, Kat had gone to the doctor to get checked out just in case anything was wrong from the crash.
As I was making a list of all the things that happened last week in my head, there was a knock at the door. I flung the it open to see Kat smiling in my doorway, leaning her head against the door frame.
"Hey," she grinned.
"So is anything wrong with your head? Not too fucked up, right?" I joked. She dug her elbow into my ribs and strode into my house. I laughed, buckling over from the ticklishness that shot through my rib cage. Shutting the door gently, I turned around and gestured to the door that led to the backyard.
Once we'd made our way into my backyard-which was huge, by the way-we sat ourselves down on the edge of the pool, dipping our feet into the refreshing chlorinated water.
"My head's fine," Kat finally replied, "but the Doc said I oughta keep him updated as to whether my constant headaches go away or not."
We'd talked and gossiped for a while just as any teenage girls would, until suddenly, I was completely engulfed by water. I pushed off the bottom of the pool, gasping for air which I was unluckily not granted before the incident. Thankfully, I was a really good swimmer because of my years as a speed swimmer back in Seattle.
I spun around and glared up at the person who'd pushed me in.
"Aw, you don't like to swim?" Jesse grinned. I tried keeping a frown on my face, but couldn't help it when I burst into laughter. I had floated up to the surface of the water and just laid there on my back for what seemed like a long time, but in reality was only a few seconds.
When I'd made my way back up into a vertical sculling position, I saw Kat creep up behind Jesse. He'd clearly noticed her, but right as he turned around to face her, she pushed him in. He hit the water on his back with a huge smacking sound.
I swam my way towards him, and right as he popped his head out of the water, my face was just inches from his. Jesse grinned and I felt his strong hands grab my waist as he pulled me closer to his body.
"Aw, you don't like to swim?" I mocked, causing him to burst into laughter.
"Nah, I love the water," I felt him pull me up, which really couldn't be that difficult in the water because it felt like a no-gravity zone. I wrapped my legs around his waist, and as I leaned in to kiss him, Kat cut in.
"Awkward." And once again, both Drew and I were nearly in tears, laughing.
I hoisted myself out of the pool, and suddenly, all my clothes clung to me. It's as if I completely forgot I was fully clothed when I was pushed in.
As Jesse pulled himself out of the pool, I pulled Kat to me and hugged her tight.
"Oh my god, Desiree!" she shrieked. You're soaked!" The corner of my mouth crept up into a smile as I shot a wink towards Jesse, hinting to what I was about to do.
