Les's p.o.v:

I taps on Riley's bay window and waited as she approached it and opened it.

"Hi."

"Hey" She whispered as she wiped a tear off her cheek.

"I heard you needed a friend."

"Yeah. I kind of do, I guess." She took a seat and I sat next to her. I waited for her to talk, but it was just a couple of minutes of awkward silence.

"So," I swallowed. "How do you feel about all of this?"

"Um," she couldn't even finish before crying again.

"Riles," I said hugging her as she hugged me.

I just waited for her to stop crying while I slowly caressed her hair.

"Listen, I know I already fucked up the whole I'm here to support you thing, but you can't keep crying like this. Riley, you're the sun in Rileytown. Everyone knows that every morning when their alarms go off, you will be there to light their day. You see, you've got this radiance that's so powerful."

She sat up and began to listen to what I was saying.

"And you're so funny, and caring and humble. And let's face it, I'm a potato next to you." Riley giggled. "Don't you dare say I'm not, because I am. Like I was saying, you're irredeemably perfect in every way possible. Sure you mess up at times and not every day in Rileytown will be a bright day, but in the end things do get better. Things do look up. And everything might change, but it's always for the better. Even if it doesn't seem like it at first."

For some odd reason Lucas came to my head. I don't know why but at the thought of him my heart fluttered.

"I'm ready to talk now." Riley stood and walked over to her bed. She patted the seat next to her and I went.

"Why do you think about all of this?"

"I don't know, Les. I'm thinking either Farkle was just being friendly to Smackle or he was ...cheating." She played with her fingers nervously. "It's hard no to cry when you know that your heart was broken into a million tiny pieces by the person you care for the most. I didn't say anything to Maya or anyone else, and it's bad I kept this from Maya but Farkle and I have been getting into arguments a lot lately."

She paused for a second and I waited for her to go on.

"Ever since Maya and you had the argument at school and she made that remark about me still liking Lucas nothing between me and Farkle has been the same. Sometimes when I'll invite him over for family game night he refuses and says that he had plans with Lucas or he has to go somewhere with his dad. He never compliments me anymore, and he never like to hold my hand anymore." She turned to look at me with the saddest look in her eyes. "What did I do?"

"You didn't do anything, Riley. You're wonderful he's just another potato in the sac." I hugged Riley against me. "Let's just see what happens.."

.......

Once Riley fell asleep I escaped through her window. Once I was on the ground, I was spooked by foot steps. I turned and saw a pair of electric green eyes. My heart fluttered and my breathing hitched.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I was just going to check up on Riley. I know she doesn't sleep well when somethings bothering her."

Awe.

"I just put her to sleep, so she might be fine."

"If you say so." He smirked and I got all nervous so I began to walk.

"Wait!"

"Yes?"

"Let's walk together."

"Ok."
