Chapter 4

"Moonpaw and Violetpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and protect and defend this Clan even at the cost of your life?"

Velvetkit was still shaken by her encounter with the apprentices a few sunrises ago. From then on, the kits decided to play with Hopepaw and Fluffpaw while the other kits were still in the nursery.

"I do." Moonpaw and Violetpaw replied with their chests puffed out and chin held high.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I name you Moonshine and Violetstream." Ruststar leaned forward whole Moonshine and Violetstream licked his shoulder.

"Moonshine! Violetstream!" Cats of MarshClan chanted.

The two warriors purred with pleasure as cars swarmed around them.

Velvetkit growled as they gave them looks when they padded over to the warriors den.

She was startled when Amberkit prodded her in the side. "Sapheart wants us."

They got Mintkit and padded over to the nursery.

"What is it, mother?" Velvetkit asked.

"This is Redheart, Juniperfur, and Diamondheart." Sapheart meowed. She nodded to the three cats next to her. "They will be your mentors. And since we only have 2 apprentices, you will be mentored early."

The kits squealed in excitement. "When?" Amberkit asked.

"One moon." Juniperfur replied.

Redheart stepped forward. "I'm happy to be mentoring you." She meowed to Mintkit.

Mintkit pouted. "I have to have her?"

Sapheart's calm face turned to anger. "You should be honored."

Mintkit shrank back, "sorry."

Sapheart snorted, "off you three go."

"We made it to the warriors den without Faithcloud stopping is!" Exclaimed Amberkit. "She's probably on a patrol."

"Who cares? Let's go see the warriors!" Velvetkit squealed.

"Wait for us!" Icekit bounded after her brother, Tigerkit. They had just opened their eyes and we're ready to explore every inch of camp.

Mintkit sighed, "I guess you could come with us."

They peered inside the den and only saw 3 shapes in their nests.

Juniperfur and Twigfall were curled up together, and Moonshine slept towards the back of the den.

"Awe. I wanted to see Deertail." Amberkit complained.

"Why?" Velvetkit asked.

"Isn't it obvious? He's the greatest warrior of all time!" Tigerkit meowed.

"Your just saying that because he's your father." Mintkit pointed out.

"Am not!" Tigerkit protested.

"I wish we knew who our father was." Amberkit whispered while the others where still fighting.

"Well, some queens just don't like to share who their mate is."

"Yeah, but couldn't she at least tell her own kits?"
