I was about to leap into the pack of wolves at once, but Sharp held me back saying, "We can't make our move yet. There are too many of them and Riko is too weak." I whimpered, but stayed where I was. "We'll rescue them tonight when the Red Willow pack is sleeping. If there are one or two guard wolves out, we should take them out quickly." Sharp said, turning to face me. "Right now, let's get some sleep."
I woke up to a sharp pain in my ribs. I turned over. It was Sharp prodding my side with his paw. "It's nearly time for the rescue. You ready, Maki?"
"Yeah." I replied. "Just let me stretch for a moment." After I stretched (which felt great!), I followed Sharp into the heart of the Red Willow pack camp. This is it. Lucky for us, there were only a few guard wolves and we knocked them out easily. When Sharp and I were just about to enter the cave, I thought 'This is too easy.' As soon as I had completed that thought, two HUGE wolves leapt out of the cave and easily pinned us down. I snarled viciously. We should've known it wouldn't be this easy!
"I had a hunch that you would try to rescue your friend before he died." said a gigantic off-white wolf. "Pity, I don't think he'll last much longer."
Somehow I knew this wolf had to be Leasha's dad. I growled ferociously. "Leave my brother alone. If you hurt him again, I will not rest until I have killed you."
He grunted in amusement, then padded towards me. "I can tell you're a feisty one. I think I'll keep you for myself."
I shuddered, disgusted by the lustful look in his eyes. Then Sharp went into pissed off mode. "If you touch her, so help me I will....."he cut off growling menacingly.
But in spite of all of this, Leasha's dad kept his cool. "How sweet, sticking up for her even though you're not her real father."
'He's right', I thought. 'I've never known who my real father was. That's why my siblings and I always called Sharp by his name'.
Then Leasha's dad ordered the guard wolves that were pinning us down to take Sharp to where Riko and Leasha were being held. After they were gone, he and the remaining guard wolves escorted me to his den. When we got there, I asked "What's your name anyway?"
Leasha's dad smirked before replying, "I'm glad you asked love, my name is Bone."
When Bone called me love, I felt a sharp pain in my heart as I remembered Xavier. I should've gone to him. He could have brought extra wolves and everything. I feel so stupid.
"Hey!" Bone snapped, and I came out of my trance with a jolt. "What's wrong! Weren't you listening?"
I shot a smug look at him. "No, in fact I wasn't."
Bone growled dangerously and advanced toward me. I stood defiantly, but he was strong. Soon he had me pinned down in a mating position. I tried to fight, but Bone had me pinned hard and each attempt was futile. 'I'm sorry Xavier.' I thought as I got weaker and weaker. Suddenly, as if by magic, Xavier burst in and hurled Bone off of me while snarling, "Get your filthy paws off of my mate!" I looked up at Xavier in adoration as he asked, "Are you alright, love?"
I rolled my eyes and said "Yeah, I'm fine. But if you would've come a moment later, I would've been raped."
Xavier stood near me protectively. "I would never let that happen, sweetheart."
We then raced outside the cave to see that the battle was pretty much over. "Awww man." I whined. "Now I don't get to fight anybody."
"You weren't going to fight anyways." said Xavier, nuzzling me.
"Well, now that we have everybody, let's go home." I said, supporting my brother. I forgot how heavy he was! Geez, he needs to lay off the squirrels! This is gonna be a long walk...
