THREE weeks had passed since both Nadine and James returned from their honeymoon and everything went smooth for them. Although James had moved into her house with not too much things to bring along with him, she still felt that she was living alone there. Why was that so? This was because every morning when she woke up and ready to go to the shop, James was still sleeping in his room because he worked in the club until past midnight and when she returned home from work at night, James was not at home. Yeah, she preferred to live in such way because she did not want to disturb his personal life.
Today was Sunday, and it was very beautiful morning but James was still in deep slumber although the time was already 11 a.m. The bed was so comfortable until he did not want to leave it even for a second. However the sweet fragrance from nowhere suddenly penetrated his nostrils and forced him to open his eyes. Where did this sweet smell come from? He woke up from his lying with shirtless body and opened the eyes slowly to adjust with the sudden brightness around him.
"Erm..it's already morning," he mumbled with hands scratched his messy hair. His eyes wandered around liked he was in the place that strange to him. Yeah, this place was strange for him three weeks ago, but now he used to live in this beautiful double-storey terrace house. He deeply inhaled the fragrance and made his stomach growled in hungry. James went to bathroom first to fresh up and left the room with a towel wiping on his wet face, but he forgot to put shirt on his muscular body.
"It comes from downstairs," he walked down the stairs slowly and headed to the kitchen. There, Nadine was baking breads in the beautiful kitchen which had complete equipments to bake the breads and desserts. No wonder he smelt the sweet fragrance because Nadine was at home today, and she did not go to her shop as usual for today. James leaned his body against the wall with crossed arms on his broad chest, and he was almost enchanted by her smile that he never had seen before.
"Oh my God, you scare me!" Nadine jumped in surprise and almost dropping the cherries onto the floor after she had noticed his presence there.
"Watching you are at home around this hour is more surprising," he joked as he headed to the kitchen counter. Nadine's cheeks turned pink as soon she realized that James was shirtless, and she immediately removed her gaze from his muscular body by looking at desserts she just made.
"Can't you wear something before leaving your room?" she said without looking at him. James looked at his shirtless body with smile on his face. Oh, she was embarrassed to look at him at that moment.
"I'm always like this," shirtless and just wore the short pants. That was how he usually dressed up when he was at home. Nadine rolled her eyes in annoying and ignored his presence there.
"What is that?" James took the seat on counter stool with eyes glued at the delicious pastries that had been arranged tidily on the plate.
"Egg tarts," she replied shortly before moved toward the oven and took the baked breads out from it. His stomach growled louder after he saw the hot delicious breads were placed in front of him. Watching how long he stared at those egg tarts and breads, Nadine placed some of them onto the small plate and shoved it front of him.
"For me?" he pretended to surprise, but he smiled happily when she nodded. James immediately ate them to fill up his empty stomach. Only then he realized that this was the first time since he moved into this house, they had breakfast together although he was the only one that eating.
"Are you not going to the shop today?" he asked while his hand continuously fed his mouth with egg tarts while watching Nadine put the delicious white cream on those breads and cherries at the top.
