Saturday
It was morning, Astrid had woken up really early for she had no idea what time the delivery boy would come to pick up the remaining charges from yesterday. She had woken up about 7AM and she ate breakfast and took a bath.
She was sort of flustered about meeting him for it wasn't because of pizza that they're meeting, no it didn't feel that way at all. Astrid felt like it would be a normal meeting for he could have just waited for the three dollars yesterday yet he left a note stating he would pick it up today.
There was no way she could have declined if he had said that to her so she felt that there was a reason to his actions yet she doesn't want to assume things. She clutched on to her pillow as she sat on her couch trying to not overthink, she stared at the television and tried to understand what was going on in the show she was watching but nothing came to her mind. Astrid was too intrigued by the boy.
"I'm not going to let him consume my thoughts."
Astrid thought to herself as she tighten her gripped around the cushion. She soon started to calm down and finally started understanding what was going on in the show she was watching.
When Astrid had submerged herself with the show a familiar sound came from her door which caused her to stiffen. It took her a while to respond so the delivery boy had already rang the bell thrice.
Astrid calmly made her way to the door with the remaining charges in her hand.
"Morning."
She was greeted by the delivery boy, his greeting was accompanied by a dead panned tone. "Good morning." She replied but realized she felt something was lacking.
"As well." She added, she shrugged and avoided his glance. "The cha--" before he could have finished his sentence Astrid had gently shoved the three dollars on to his chest. "Here." Astrid was still trying her best not to meet his eyes.
As her head was turned to the ground she heard a small chuckle and felt a warm touch on her hand that was near his chest, this caused Astrid to look up to her hand on his chest. The delivery boy had his hand on her. "Thanks." When he had finally made eye contact with her he took the dollar and placed it on his pocket.
"I've already covered for your delivery so I'll be keeping this."
He explained. Astrid pulled her hand away from his chest and placed it near hers in panic. "Okay." She replied to his explanation, she had no idea what to do she felt like there was a reason why he choose to cover for her lack of money at that time, she didn't necessarily lacked it she just got taken aback by the price.
The two of them stood outside with silence surrounding them. Astrid had no idea how to respond, she wasn't used to having her delivery boy come on any day besides Friday.
"Hey, are you free right now?"
Astrid looked at the boy and tried making up the facial expression he had, she had no way of identifying what he trying to convey. Was his intentions bad or not? Astrid couldn't put the pieces together yet she still nodded her as to tell him that she was.
"I don't have anything special to do today." She answered.
"Then do you want to ride my motorcycle?"
Astrid titled her head to the side as to get a view of what was behind him, it was a different vehicle from what he would usually take to her place.
"You've always had something taken to your place by me so would you like to try being taken to somewhere by me?" He asked
Astrid knew that his words could go on both ways either good or bad yet with that 50-50 chances she still accepted his offer. "I'--" before she could have responded through words, the delivery boy opened his mouth and say.
"I don't plan on doing anything bad, I promise."
She looked at him in the eye and tried to read pass his words. He looked at her straight in the eye and smiled. Astrid was caught off guard of his action.
"If anything bad happened to you, I'll give you a free pizza on your next delivery."
even with a discount to a free pizza Astrid did not trust him.
"I don't even know your name." She replied moving back.
"It's Aleks Merchant."
