APRIL (( VALERIE ))

Billions of stars fluctuated in the darkness, stooges of a fallacious truth. A deep, crimson flame glistered within each one, and for the longest time, she kept it that way. Then one day, a tentatively defiant whisper touched every single flickering light like an inscrutable eagle, stuttering the flames into silence. One by one. No more fire? Just unbearably frigid truths each with a soliloquy to share, blundering around the darkness of light. Soon enough every truth finished their agonising reverie, and they all stopped stumbling. Silence shrouded the truths in a quietus, but she was not so fortunate to be given the mercy of this fraudulent limbo. A sinister fracture scrambled its way across the blackness of her mind, scratching everything in a manic frenzy, breaking, snapping, cracking, again and again-! Fragmented truths tore away from one another, pulling apart and smashing together, splintering into an abundance of septic lies to be handed out for everyone to share. What a jealous girl, to think her obsession with hide and seek would unveil her revolting shadow.

"Wait..."

Don't bother listening.

She wouldn't believe her childhood snacks anymore; a single measly accolade would mean a banquet to her, and the moon will never step out of her light. Not that she has any left.

"I'm sorry- I didn't mean..!"

They're all lies anyway.

How ironic, such radiant luminosity withholding these lavish obscurities.

"Please, give me another chance."

...

No one was searching for her, yet she still lost her little game of hide and seek before it ever began.
