5 years later
"Oliver come to the table!"
I heard the sounds of plastic cars crashing together stop and the pitter patter of my brother's feet. His shoulders slumped when he saw two steaming bowls on the table, not three.
"Daddy's working buddy, it's alright let's eat."
"Maybe tomorrow he'll eat with us, right Lizzy?" He smiled at me as he sat down in his chair.
"Yes maybe tomorrow" I smiled right back at him. The poor guy is so oblivious, but at least he's happy. It's so unfair the way Father blames Oli for Mother's death. If he actually took the time to get to know him he'd see how much like mom he really is. Positive, happy and loving. He radiates the same glowing light that mother always did.
"Sorry bud, we just have canned soup for tonight, I need to head to the store after I pick you up from school tomorrow."
"Get dino nuggets please! Please Lizzy please!"
I ruffled his blonde wavy hair. "You got it"
After Oliver finally finished eating and chattering about his day I cleared the table and he ran back to play with his toys. I filled up a glass of water and a bowl of soup for Father and put it on his tray. I walked downstairs and outside of his office, or more like his lab these days, knocked twice and when he didn't answer, as always, I left the tray outside his door.In the morning the tray is always empty, so either he's eating or we have a really terrible rat infestation.
When Oliver had played with his cars for a few hours longer I took him upstairs, got his pajamas on and had him brush his teeth and comb his hair. I put him into bed and turned on his Star Wars nightlight.
"Goodnight oliver." I turned and started down the hall.
"Lizzy?"
"Yes?"
"Can you tell me the story about Mommy again?"
I sighed a little and went and sat down on Oliver's bed. He made room for me and I layed with him in my arms.
"Once upon a time there was a beautiful lady, she had long shiny blonde hair, and her brown eyes were so kind that even wild animals and criminals were instantly her friend. She was the kindest lady in the world, she just glowed with it. And she was so smart as well, and funny and caring. But despite this, her family still was not very nice to her. So, she moved all the way from Wisconsin to Maine with her aunt when she was only 18 to get a fresh start."
"Lizzy that's where we live!" I put a finger up to my lips and smiled.
"When she got there she worked in her aunt's bakery, but she was terribly lonely, all her friends were back home. She spent all her free time reading in the abandoned lighthouse and gazing at the ocean. Then one day while she was there she met a very smart and handsome man. They instantly fell in love.Soon they got married and had a daughter only 3 years later."
"And what did they name her Lizzy?".
"They named her Elisabeth Sky Addams. The little family bought the old lighthouse where they met and built a little house on the land behind it. Then 15 years later, the lady was pregnant again. With a boy! Everyone was so happy. They decided to name him Oliver, after his mother Olivia. And his middle name would be Sky, just like his older sister's. But when the he was born, the beautiful lady being as smart as she is, knew how special this baby boy was, and became an angel so she could watch over him while he changed the world."
Oliver looked up at me sleepily. "Am I really gonna change the world?"
I held out my pinky "The Sky's the limit right buddy?"
He smiled at me and wrapped his pinky finger around mine."right"
