Merlin’s POV

I can only think of one word when it comes to Arthur, prat. Arthur would never change but still I tried to convince myself otherwise. I tried to think of the future. The future where Arthur would know me for who I really am and accept that instead of thinking I am his enemy thinking magic, no....thinking I am evil.

I pushed the thought of that away as I did Arthur’s bed as he got dressed behind his screen. I did feel slightly proud that I had got Arthur to king without him dying but none of it makes a difference, for now.

A crash came from outside and I laughed as I heard Arthur yell in pain. He had hit his foot on the screen and I watched as he came out from behind the screen holding his toe.

“Go tell who ever that was to shut up. I am trying to get dressed and it ruined my peaceful thoughts and stop laughing now,” said Arthur.

“Yes I will you complete dollop head,” I smirked as I went out into the corridor to see where the noise had come from. I looked around to find no one and nothing that could have made such a sound. That was quite odd. As I went to go back into Arthur’s chamber someone touched my shoulder.

“Sorry to disturb you but I think you may be interested in something I can offer you,” he smiled at me.

“I think you are mistaken. I must get back to work,” I said to him before I went back into the chamber and closing the door behind me. It was the guy Gaius had been speaking too. How did that man know I would be interested in his offer? I’ll worry about it later, for now I got little miss grumpy pants to deal with.

“Merlin so what was the noise,” asked Arthur.

“I am not sure,” I lied.

“You are completely useless Merlin,” he moaned to me.

A knock came at the door and I went over to it to find Gwaine on the other side of the door. “Arthur you are needed,” said Gwaine.

“Arthur you are needed,” I repeated.

“I heard it from Gwaine the first time,” said Arthur as he pushed passed me and followed Gwaine. I sighed with annoyance as I left the room locking the door before I followed them down the corridor.

The offer that was waiting for me took over my thoughts and emotions for the rest of the day, popping up in the most unpredictable places. It even landed me with the job of cleaning out the stables as I had not been paying attention when making Arthur’s bath and tipping walker all over the floor instead of tipping it into the tub.

Arthur could tell I was not myself and so had Gwaine when I had seen him a few times but I couldn’t help but continue to think about the offer as I cleaned the stables that night. I wanted Freya back and I had nothing else to say apart from that. If I have a chance of getting her back, why don’t I just take it?

What if it’s not what it seems? What if something goes wrong but what if it’s a success. These are just some of the things going through my mind and I have plenty more. I couldn’t run this through anyone and the only person I could have considered had already declined the offer and it’s clear if I want to do this I have to avoid him.

As I finished cleaning the stables the man who had said about the offer earlier came into the stable. He smiled at me and I wondered if he had been waiting for me to be on my own to talk to me again.

“Merlin, I know you where listening to me talking to Gaius about resurrection. I finally found away to do it and I can tell you have lost someone so dear to you too. This is a once in a life time and if I was you I would take it,” said Lee.
