Sometimes, when Amelia slept in her paradise, she would dream about things that had happened to her in the past. However, she couldn't really recognize some of the people. Somehow she just knew these visions were true events that took place in her lifetime. She wasn't exactly sure how she knew they were really were things that had happened to her, but they felt too close. Like if she tried really hard, maybe she could remember them. That was difficult for her, though. Every time she came close to pulling a memory forward, she would fall back to sleep, this time dreamless.
Amelia found herself thoroughly enjoying some of the dreams. Sometimes they were filled with happy things. She would be with people who so obviously loved her...but she had no clue who they were. In her most recent dream, she could see herself dancing with a tan, brown haired boy. He was wearing a black suit with a gold tie. She was wearing a long, shimmering gold dress. Her short black pixie cut was decorated with different gems and glitter. It was her birthday. Amelia could tell by the huge cake that had been brought out with her name on it. She watched from above as the brown haired boy twirled her around. She was laughing joyously, and he was grinning down at her.
You are fifteen now, the boy said to her. Amelia knew that was her current age. This must have been her last birthday. At least she assumed she was still fifteen. That age just made sense to her. Amelia wanted to get a closer to her dream self and the dancing boy. When she got closer she realized that the boy was actually a few years older than her. Already growing into a young man. That struck Amelia as strange. Why was she dancing with someone so much older than she was? Maybe he was her brother...she couldn't remember if she had a brother...
Amelia was twirled again, and the skirts of her shimmering gold dress blew around her. What do I do now? Amelia had asked him.
Just keep dancing.
