I see the man
who left my mother
I see the man
who left her to tell
their seven year daughter
where her beloved father went
when I see my father
I see the man
who divorced my mother
I see the man
who gave up because he didn't
want to try to give it another shot
when I see my father
I see the man
who had to tell his daughter
that her mother died
I see the man
who drove her to
her mother's funeral
when I see my father
I see the man
who didn't let his daughter
keep her loving dog
I see the man
who tore her family apart
who's daughter is grieving
the loss of her mother and dog
and everything else
she had to leave behind
when I see my father
this is the man
of whom I see
