We sat in the traffic for at least thirty minutes in silence. I decided to turn on the radio for any more news. All there was, was static I turned to a station that worked.
"All roads have been blocked off, due to 'the virus' spreading from the city side to the mountain range."
I flipped it back off and singed burying my head in my palms. Parker placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Hey.... it's gonna be ok, as long as we have each other. Right?"
"Y-yeah I guess..."
"All roads are closed, so there is no getting out of the city in my baby, looks like we're going to have to walk. but I don't want to leave my baby."
"Wow." I said giggling and we both started laughing.
"But really though, this cost me a lot I can't just leave it here."
"Oh...umm... I know!"
"Really?!"
"Yeah just let me drive."
We quickly got out an switched places.
"Ok whatever is going to happen, don't get mad."
"Oh no. I'm sorry baby."
He said rubbing his car door.
"Wow I swear you love this car more than me. hahahahaha"
We both started laughing and I started to change lanes, turning us away.
"Hey! didn't they say to get out of the city!"
"Yes, but with all this traffic those monsters are going to be here because if the noise, if we're lucky we can get out of the traffic pretty quick."
"Oh wow, I didn't even think of that. good job!"
"Thanks."
I kept driving pass cars one car had us roll down our window and we had a conversation on why we were turning back around. We didn't tell them the reason we just told them we were turning back to go get my mom. I figured if everyone knew we were turning back then it would be harder to hide.
We got out of the traffic just like I had hoped. Only thing is... there were lots of those monsters, it said it spread from the center of the city to the out skirts. It looked like too many to drive through, we needed to find His mother and father and this was the only rode I knew of.
"Look park we need to walk from now on... which means we have to abandon your baby."
"WHAT?!"
"I know parting is such sweet sorrow." I said wiping away a fake tear.
"NO!!! not my baby"
He seemed actually attached to his car, was there another way? not a faster one that I knew of.
"I'm sorry park... there's no other... wait."
"What is it."
"I think there's a road leading to a place that is I think safe for now until we find out where your parents are... I'm not sure though it has been 10 years since I've even seen the place."
"Wait is that where you grew up?"
"Yeah before I moved."
"Wow! where did you live before?"
"A little town called Garland. It's in Utah so it's gonna take us a while to get there and as soon as this whole thing dies down we can go find your parents.Does that sound like a plan?"
"Well... I guess... I mean if it means we don't have to leave my baby and we do have plenty of gas and food to last us, but what about Damien ?"
"Oh damn... umm did he say where he was going?"
"I think he said he was making his way to somewhere cold, but I don't remember."
"What about your mother and father won't they be worried?"
"Oh yeah... maybe a little but they have my older sister, plus they never really liked me too much."
"Oh please they love you. They want the best for you, they worry about you more than anyone does."
"Wait really? anyone?"
"Well I might care for you more than them, but they are your parents,"
I saw him blush an he looked down.
"So about your parents where did they go?"
"I actually have no idea. My mom said she went to take dad and Buster to her sisters farm, but I have no idea where that is."
"So you never met your aunt?"
"No..."
I felt bad for him, but I never had an aunt my mother was an only child.
"I'm sorry."
I said rubbing his back, he looked at me and smiled.
"Ok so Garland?"
"Oh right. You sure you want to?"
"Of course," he said smiling "It would be nice to see where you came from."
I blushed that he cared so much about me as to want to see where I came from.

I was driving for a while now, on a dirt road on the way to Utah. It was a road no one used only me and my family when we went somewhere out of town. It was fairly clear only things out here were the occasional deer and jack rabbit. It turned dark so I pulled over on the side of the road. I was getting really tired, and my eyes started to flicker. The darkness consumed my mind and fell asleep.
