It was safe in the arms of his mother. There, Louis could cry all he wanted, and all he could really do right now is sob. It wasn't exactly fair how things had been working out for Louis, and things were just going to get worse. As he cries in his mum's arms, the thoughts of the past week rush through his head. He looks at the time, his head pounding when he sees he has to be up for school in only a couple of hours. His mother continues to stroke his back, his head tucked into her shoulder, the scent of her perfume just barely getting past Louis' stuffy nose.

As they sit there, rocking back and forth, sniffles and tears still coming from the small boy curled up in a ball pressed to Jay's chest, Louis can only think about one thing.

What the hell just happened?

~O~

The day after the phone call was one that Louis was not looking forward too. The day before, after the phone call was ended quite abruptly, Louis had sat there, in his bed, staring at his mobile phone. He waited for awhile, waiting for someone to just call him, or text him. To tell him everything was going alright and that he wasn't going crazy right now. But, when nothing came, Louis just sat there, ignoring the knocks that came from his worried mother every hour or so. He just wanted to curl up in a ball and die, because he was definitely going crazy right now.

The thoughts of the kiss were racing through his mind. The way Harry was holding Hailey, the way she leaned into his arms, just like they belonged there. How long had they been together? Were they always together and Louis was just not aware of it? Were they together when they all had gone to that one restaurant? Hailey just seemed like a random waitress that Harry knew off-hand, not his girlfriend. They didn't flirt or talk much or really do anything out of the ordinary.

Even though it really wasn't any of his business, Louis couldn't stop wondering about their relationship, and the invisible relationship that was Louis' and Harry's. What if Louis had accepted his feelings beforehand? Would anything have changed at all? Louis doubts it, because if he was being honest to himself, Harry was probably dating Hailey long before Louis and Harry had even met.

Louis sat on the bed, wondering what he should do about this whole situation, or if he should do anything. Hailey and Harry were a good couple, not only in sense that they were both very good looking people, but also because they were good for each other. Hailey was a very sweet, kind, and caring girl who could give amazing hugs. And Harry was sensitive, responsible, and respectful. And they were both so genuine. Louis really couldn't split up something like that just for his own selfish needs, could he? No, that'd be wrong. And Louis was sick and tired of doing the wrong thing.

As Louis was wallowing in his pain, he looked over to his right, his eyes widening when he saw that it was already night time. He hadn't kept track of the time, letting the world around him escape. He didn't want to deal with anything, or anyone, right now. But, he had to do something with his life. After that night, he would only have three more days until New Years, where he would have to meet up with Harry again.

Maybe things would be better if he didn't have the little epiphany that he indeed did really like Harry. A little too much, might he add. And really, it wasn't as good as everyone makes it out to be. Falling for your best friend isn't lucky or amazing. It honestly is the worst person you could fall in love. If you do end up with this person, and then you two break up, then the friendship would most likely become strained, and no longer as great as before. And if you don't end up with them, there is still a strain on the friendship, because it's like your friend is tip-toeing around you, trying not to do the wrong thing to upset you. And sometimes, you lose your friend completely.

Louis sighed, sitting straight against his headboard. He wished there was something he  could do right now, like read one of the new books that he got for his birthday and Christmas. But, Louis knew that he wouldn't be able to concentrate on the words, or anything else for that matter. His head was swimming with thoughts that were driving him up the wall. And Louis didn't want to talk to his family, because he was quite out of it. He was afraid he might lose himself again and either snap at his family or just make them feel completely ignored.
