~Chapter Five~

I clutched my books a little tighter as everyone stared at me in the hallway. Things had gotten slightly better than yesterday, people no longer giving me disgusted looks as I passed them.

It was finally the end of the day, and I reached my locker at last. I put away the necessary books and shoved my homework into my brown leather backpack.

Today seemed to drag on for forever. Each period seemed like it lasted 3 hours. But, it was over now.

I was one of the last ones to leave the school. The parking lot was pretty much empty. I hopped into my car, starting up the engine and slid my sunglasses over my eyes.

Driving home, I hummed along to Pink Floyd’s “High Hopes” that was coming out of the speakers from my iPhone. I love old music. Nirvana, Pink Floyd, The Ramones. I pretty much live for those kinds of bands.

When I finally got home, I parked my car, a little crooked, in my driveway and walked up the front walkway with my backpack slung over my shoulder. I unlocked my door, since I was always the first one home, and pushed it open. I went straight up to my room, where I pretty much lived most of the time.

My room was unique from most people’s. Basically, my house was made out of bricks, so I had three normal walls, but one was made out of red bricks. In that wall, I had two medium sized windows on either side. I had dark green curtains that were off to one side of the windows, letting in natural light. Under the right window I had one of those old iron ventilation thingies, I thought it added a rustic look to the room. Against that wall I had a light oak desk, that was neat and tidy with a bunch of pencils, paper, my Macbook Pro , and other academic things, with a white plastic spinny chair. The chair had a white and purple throw pillow sitting on it. My bed was on the wall that was connected to that one. It had a light wood frame with plain white comforters. The bed may be a little simple, but I loved it. There was a white curtain hanging from a rod on the ceiling, so I could close off my bed from the rest of my room if I wanted to.

On the wall behind my bed, there was a gray sticker on the cream colored wall of the map of the world. On the opposite side of the room, the entire wall was covered in dark wood bookshelves, all filled to the brink with books. I had every author, from Shakespeare to Sylvia Plath. Books were kind of my obsession. On the last wall, the same one my door was on, there was a little table with a Tassimo machine. You know, the coffee maker. Yeah, I had one in my room. I also have an obsession with coffee, if you couldn’t already tell. My favorite flavor for Tassimo was the Orange Pekoe Tea by Tetley. Sitting on my bed, there was a light brown tray for if I wanted to drink some tea or coffee while reading on my bed.

Overall, I loved my room. It was so cozy and home-y. I walked over to my desk chair and slung my bag over the back of it. I grabbed my laptop from the desk and plopped down onto the fluffy comforter. I turned on the computer and typed in the password, then opened Twitter. I had no mentions, because I was a loner, so I went through my timeline. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on my side today, and someone just had to retweet something that my dear friend Ashton Irwin had tweeted, only 45 minutes ago.

@AshtonIrwin: Well that wasn‘t supposed to happen… #ruined

What was that supposed to mean?
