. . .
I turned my head towards the sound of the door closing with a click
"Ow"
I winced the stiffness of my neck catching me off guard.
I moved my head carefully and examined my surroundings.
The room was dark but there were some traces of light coming from a window above the bed which was in the corner of the room. Next to the door in the left corner of the room there was a work desk with what seemed to be a desktop computer and some other things I couldn't make out.
On the right here was another door which I figured was a bathroom. On the far right there seem to be a huge dresser and a full lenght mirror."Mm"
I turned my head and squeezed my eyes shut, burying my face into the pillow hoping not to wake whoever else was in the room. Suddenly the weight of the bed shifted and a warm hand gently tugged me closer to the source of heat.
•••••••
I laid there staring at the dark ceiling. I didn't feel like sleeping. I didn't feel like doing anything but what I was doing right now.
"Ow"
I heard but kept staring at the ceiling. She kept moving around sending the vibrations through the bed. Annoying little.
"Mm"
She stopped moving and everything was still again but ow that I know she's up it's too quiet.
I turned to look at her. She buried her head into the pillow. She looked so scared, hesitant, anxious. without thinking,
I slowly I tugged at her waist pulling her closer o me."I know you're awake. It's OK it's Dominic"
I said gently into her ear. As if hoping she wouldn't push me away when I said my name.
I ran my hand down the goose bumps on her shoulder. I didn't really know what I was doing but it felt right, comforting her. I felt like I needed to protect her. Strange? Completely."It's OK." I said
I pulled her closer into me
"I promise"
I felt her relax a bit. She felt so small in my ams, like a helpless rabbit, a piece of glass. So fragile and lost. She shifted around and buried he face into my chest. I stroked her hair and shut my eyes letting the sleep take me.
••••••••
I felt safe in his arms, safe in the arms of the boy who tackled me to the ground in the park, cutting off my blood flow. The boy who catched me when I fainted and carried me to the hospital. Yeah I felt safe.
My face was buried in his warm chest and his arms wrapped around me like a warm heavy blanket. I barely know him, but I don't want to pull away and spoil this moment. For the first time in a long while. I don't feel alone.
I closed my eyes and drifted into a deep sleep.••••••
