The smell was awful. The murder scene was in the upper floors, the smoke room to be exact. The body sat on a chair, slumped back from the impact. "Ok kid, first thing you should learn is how to determine cause of death. Know exactly where the poor fool was when he died, and where the killed stood. He examined the room, no footprints, shells, anything to show where the man stood. Baxter looked over the body. "Am I allowed to touch him?" The captain nodded. Baxter lifted the body, looking on the seat for shells. "Here hold this." He leaned the body onto a nearby officer. "What did the kid find?" The room was quiet, aside from the radio chatter. The royal blue fabric on the chair was beautiful, a fine oak wood making the frame very elegant. Wait a moment! Baxter shot up, startled by his discovery. "Kid what's wrong?" The captains eyes went wide as he realized what he discovered. "Sir? What is it?" Baxter looked at the young Vice officer. "If he was shot in this chair... Where is the blood?" The room went mad with chatter. Baxter looked over the room. "The body was moved." The captain grabbed his radio. "Lieutenant, we have a change of plans. We're looking for a possible scene of death." Before the team could react, an officer stormed in. "Captain! We have an unidentified individual in the upper floors!" The captain grabbed his gun. "Kid with me! The rest of you, search this place head to toe!"

The upper floors were a mess. Props were strewn about, dusty and forgotten. The lights didn't work, sparking as the captain flipped the switch. "Kid, lights on, keep quiet but don't be afraid to go loud." Baxter turned on his flashlight, walking quietly through the pitch black rooms. He couldn't tell if he was seeing things or not, as if things were avoiding his light. He heard the captain kick in a door, followed by frantic footsteps in the next room over. "Kid, two druggies, hopped up on something. Stay alert." He entered the next room, the door having already been smashed to splinters. Bottles of alcohol littered the floor. A bed sat in the center of the room, a dresser even having been moved up there, and recently too. He opened the dresser, finding more booze, and some other unique items. "Sir, call the Vice squad for this, cause I've found the mother load!" The captain ran over, amazed by the sight. Syringes, pipes, and a ton of drugs. He grabbed his radio. "Nick, you gotta get up here now!" The radio buzzed. "What's up?" He smiled. "My rookie found a dealer's stash, and I think we have the dealer cornered." The sound of footsteps nearby set off a chain of events. Baxter drew his gun, light patrolling the darkness. A figure came a cross the beams, the shine of a gun staring back at him. He opened fire at the figure, not taking a chance. A scream rang through the room. "Kid! Answer me now!" Baxter yelled back. "I'm fine! We have a guest!" Baxter ran towards the boxes that the figure hid behind.

The figure laid there, dead. His skeleton-like figure lay motionless on the hardwood floor. A hole in his chest from the bullet. "Command this is Orion... We have one suspect down... Druggie, approximately thirty years old, bald, very skinny." He put his radio away, helping the rookie to his feet. Gun at the ready, Baxter stormed into the next room, captain in hot pursuit. That was not the dealer, but this had to have been a deal in progress. They split up, covering more ground. Baxter noticed more movement, ignoring it when he saw that it was more addicts. Finally the form was not an addict. A man, fine business attire, sunglasses hiding his eyes. He stood in the way. When he noticed the light, he reached for his gun. Baxter fired, not letting him get the chance. He watched his target hit the door behind him, sliding down the wall. Baxter hit the door, breaking it off its ancient hinges. Two more figures sprinted away. The captain tackled the closer of the two, revealing it to be another guard. "Kid go!" Baxter sprinted after the other shadow.  Preparing to make his first arrest.
