As we were walking down the street I started to ask questions. " So how did you meet Max?" I questioned " Oh we went to preschool together , just hung out ever since. " he said staring at his phone. " Oh so you have known for a while huh?" "Yeah its been a while, but we have kind of separated since I have gone on tour and things like that." He said looking at me waiting for a response. I didn't give him one.

"How long have you been in foster care?" He asks out of the blue. " About thirteen years now." I say " Since you where three?" He asks in shock. " Yeah since I was three." I look up at him and wait for him to say something, he said nothing. I look back to my phone for about the thousands time and look for something to do. Jacob still has one of my ear buds in as we are walking and Sweatshirt turns on. I quickly try to turn it off but it was no use it started playing and Jacob had no problem recognizing his own song.

" Good song chose," He says as he begins to sing. " What is this song called, I wonder?" he says scratching his chin. " You little cocky bastard." I say shoving him. " My bad Queen Bitch." he says shoving me back. " To shay, to shay." I say and we both laugh as I take my ear bud back from him and put in my ear.

" Hey why don't you take those out for a sec." He says waving a hand in my face. " Fine," I say putting them away annoyed. " What do you want." " To get to know you." He says with his beautiful smile. "Ok what do you want to know?" I say " Can you ride a penny bored" He asks. " Not really no"
I respond as he unzips his backpack and and takes out a penny board. " I heard a yes." He says handing me the board and motioning to the side walk.

I put the board down and prey I don't die. Ok Katie you can do this. I encourage myself in my head and step on. "Oh god" I say out loud. "you'll be ok," He says grabbing my waist. " I'll help you get started." " Ok." I say and push off with my right foot as Jacob pushes me along.He lets go and I almost scream at him. He tells me to just stay steady and every thing will be fine, but me being me I didn't listen.

I start to panic and try to stop the board with my foot, but that didn't go so well. The board flew from under my feet and I landed straight on my face. In a second I was on the ground rolling around in pain. Jacob was right by my side trying to calm me down. " Oh my god Katie, are you ok!" I didn't respond. " Show me where it hurts." He said in a soothing voice and I took my hands away from my face. " Its just a little cut I think you'll be fine." He says and offers me a hand.

I take his hand and I suddenly don't want to let go. I just felt right. But I let go anyways. I pick up the penny board and hand it to him " Here's your damn penny board." I say " Hey there's no need to be mad at the board." He said trying to cheer me up. " There is every right to be mad at that board it hurt me." I nearly screamed at him. He just smiled and chuckled. " Come on we have to get you home so you can clean that cut out." He says wrapping his arm around my shoulder playfully.

Jacob was still with me when I got home. I assumed he wanted to catch up with Max since he hadn't seen him all summer and they seemed to be really good friends. When we walked in the door Kristin, my foster mom, walked into the living room.

" Jacob, hi! I haven't seen you in forever. What have you been up to?" She says with enthusiasm in her voice. " Yeah long time no see, I've been doing quite a bit um I went on tour with magcon, meet a lot of awesome people. Its been a busy summer." " Well apparently. Its nice to see you again Jacob." " Its nice to see you to Mrs. Saron."

Max comes down the stairs from his room and waits for Jacob and Kristin to stop talking . I walk over to the stairs to drop off my backpack in my room. Max grabs my arm before I even reach the second stair and pulls me back down. He pulls me in front of him and turns my face to the cheek were the cut was located.

"What happened?" He asked concerned. " I feel off Jacobs stupid penny board." I say bringing back the memory. " Ohhh." He says with a smirk. I nod and widen my eyes. I start to walk up the stairs again and I can hear Jacob and Max greeting each other. I get to my room drop my backpack and walk to the bathroom. I look at the cut on my face that isn't as small as Jacob had made it seem. But it didn't bother me anymore I just wish it wasn't on my face.

I grab the peroxide and cotton balls out of the cupboard. I start to dab my face with the peroxide and listen to it sizzle. I have always had that sound. I wince in pain as I start to feel the sting on my cheek. I wash of the peroxide and slap on a few band aids so the cut cant get infected and walk out the door. I walk back to my room passing Max's. I hear Jacob and Max talking. It didn't sound like anything I needed to hear so I just continued to my room.

I pick up my phone and see I have a new message. It was Quinn one of my old friends from a foster home.

Quinn- Hey how's Virginia?

Me- Gooood what about New York?

Quinn- Its good . I'm kinda lonely tho

Me- Yeah I haven't made many friends here.

Quinn was my first real crush. He was so cute. He wasn't much taller than Max, has blonde hair, and has green eyes like me. I snap out of my thoughts when I hear Kristin call for dinner from down stairs and I tell Quinn I have to go. When I get down there the boys are already filling there plates, of course they beat me down there. I don't know about Jacob but Max eats like crazy. He just never stops so it was no surprise to me.

I walk over to grab a plate and see just how much food is on there plates. I just shake my head and roll my eyes. I proceed to grab my food and walk back up stairs. I grab my phone and text Quinn which is what I would be doing for the rest of the night.
