"So we're did you learn to kick ass like that." Jeremy asks as he chows  down on the disgusting school food. "Um I have just picked it up over the years."

"Yeah we're did you learn that?" I hear a voice from behind me say. I turn around to see Jacob standing there. He still seemed to be in shock, but I didn't even see him in the crowd.

"Ugh why is this such a big deal?" I say leaning back in my chair. "I fought some big football player. Big deal." "You didn't just fight a big football player, you fought Brady Anderson. He's been the tough guy for years. And not to mention you toke him down." Jeremy said as Jacob sat down next to me.

"He didn't look so tough to me, especially when I was holding him in a head lock." I say cracking up, even though I didn't think it was funny. Things I buried deep inside, I let out today. I swore I wouldn't let it happen but it did.

Jeremy and Jacob spent the rest of lunch laughing and talking about what had happened between me and Brady. I would occasionally let out a chuckle so I didn't seem fazed by anything. I found myself staring at Jeremy. He looked like a lost puppy. Hurt and alone.

He had light brown almost dirty blonde hair, and sparkling blue eyes. But there was something off. His eyes, unlike everyone else's, they were almost lifeless and scared. He wore a faded black sweater and kept his head down, even when he was talking.

The bell rings signaling us it was time to go back to torture. I said my goodbyes to Jeremy and walk with Jacob to our next class. "I'm coming over later tonight I'll see you then." Jacob says to me patting my shoulder. "Ok see ya then."

I sat in the corner of a room that I shared with another foster kid.

I had my hands balled into fists as my face burned hot with rage. I pulled my knees up to my chest. I layed my face on my knees as I felt my burning tears stream down my face.

I just sat there crying as I heard Mr.Jaxson storming around the small house that I was supposed to call home.

I heard someone open the door. I looked up as if I were a dear in headlights. Only to be calmed down because it was Tommy, my foster brother.

"I know, I know. It hurts." He said sadly. I nodded my head as more tears fell. "I'm gonna teach you how to fight back." He said picking me up off the ground.

"Katie, are you ok?" Mrs. Gold asked looking at me concerned. "Yeah sorry just zoned out for a sec." I say picking up my pencil. I continue to not listen to her. The rest of the hour went fast. The bell rings with no warning I jump because I was still lost in my thoughts.

I walk out of the class room when I was stopped by the teacher. "Are you ok, Katie? I know it's only the second day but I usually don't have people zoning out until after the first week." She asks looking me in the eye. "Yeah I'm fine really. Thanks for the concern though." I say breaking eye contact.

"Ok. I'll see you tomorrow." She says letting me go with a suspicious look on her face. "See you tomorrow Mrs. Gold." I walk back to my locker, where I see a waiting Jeremy.

"Hey." I say getting his attention. "Hi, um I forgot to give you this at lunch," He hands me a small piece of paper. "Its my number." He says looking down. "Oh ok um I'll text you later. See ya." I say closing my locker. And walking away.

When I get home I immediately text Quinn.

Me: Hey

Quinn:I'm mad at you

Me:Why?

Quinn: Because you fell a sleep.

Me: I'm sorry it's a natural thing to do. But I almost beat a kid today. His name is Brady and he was picking on someone and I lost it.

Quinn: You said you'd never do that again. Are you ok?

I hear a knock on the door and I run down stairs to open it beating Max. Jacob was behind the door as I suspected. He looked at me with his beautiful hazel eyes and I couldn't help but smile.

"Hey little ninja." He says and smiles back. "Oh so that's what we're calling me now?" I ask raising my eyebrows. He just nods his head with that wonderful smile plastered on his face.  He is so....cute.

Max and Jacob go up stairs and yell at me to come with. I go even though I did not want to. But I just thought it was an opportunity to get closer to Jacob.

"So what made you let me in your room Max?" I ask crossing my arms. "I don't know I just thought we could you know hang out." He says elbowing Jacob. I raise my eyebrow and Max gives me a "I'm up to something look" So I say. "Yeah ok I'm going back to My room."

I walk out of Max's room and into mine. I face plant into my pillow and sigh. That was my chance to get to know Jacob a little better and I through it out the window. I guess you just have to make stupid decisions sometimes.

I turn around to see Jacob in my door frame. I jump and ask what he wanted. He didn't say anything. "Hello?" I ask waving my hand. "Oh sorry just got lost in my thoughts, um I thought it's about time I gave you this." He handed me a piece of paper and walked away.

He went down the stairs and I heard him leave. I open the small folded paper. It was his number. I fold the piece of paper back up and just hold it. I smile and close my eyes. I huff as I fall back onto my bed.
