"It was never supposed to happen like this... she wasn't supposed to get hurt... she wasn't supposed to die..." the words kept replaying through Robin's mind over and over again. He kept replaying the events in his head of what happened that night thinking if he had only got there fast enough she would still be alive. If he hadn't had made that one mistake she'd be okay.
But that was all in the past now and now he was standing in the pouring rain over her grave. He could still remember every detail of that night. Her screams, holding her close to him telling her she would be okay, her blood on his uniform, the promise he had made to her, and her last dieing breath escaping her pink lips. It overwhelmed him bringing new tears to his eyes. He had already lost his parents and now his best friend since they met at the circus. He could still remember the first time they met that day. The day that his parents died she was there with her mother to watch the show. She had found him crying and comforted him and after that they became best friends staying in contact with each other after he was adopted by Bruce Wayne.
He also remembered the day that she figured out he was Robin. It was pretty funny considering that she was so smug about it. He had tried to convince her that he wasn't by playing the 'I don't know what you're talking about' card but she saw right through him. But Robin got back at her later when he figured out that she was the vigilante Nightshade. Let's just say she was very stubborn about admitting it.

He weakly smiled at the memories but dropped it realizing he would never hear her soothing voice again, never hear that amazing laugh of hers, never smell the beautiful perfume of cherry blooms she always wore, never see her gorgeous smile again, or see those bright brilliant blue eyes she had. All because of one argument between them before a mission that completely threw her off her game.
"It was all my fault... all my fault..." Robin thought sadly. He clenched his fists together as tears fell from his face, his hair and clothes were drenched from the rain. "She always did like the rain," he thought with a slight smile on his face. Then he felt a hand on his shoulder and the rain wasn't pouring on him has much. He looked up from her grave to see Alfred, his face full of sorrow but concern for how Robin was feeling, "Master Dick, Master Bruce would like to see you back at the mansion." Dick just nodded his head as he walked back to the mansion with Alfred listening to the rain pour down around them.

Inside Dick headed down to the bat cave where Bruce was. He walked up to him and found him staring at Nightshade's uniform. "It was all my fault," Dick suddenly spoke up. His voice echoed off the cave's walls, Bruce quickly turned around and looked at him with concern, "Dick it wasn't your fault you know that."
"But it was! If I hadn't had fought with her before the mission she would still be here! If I had just been faster I could have saved her!" Dick yelled, his voice cracking and fresh tears starting to stream down his face. He fell to his knees crying when he felt strong arms wrap around him and pulled him into a hug. Dick cried into Bruce's shoulder as Bruce tried to comfort him as best he could. Dick had lost so much already, why did he have to lose his best friend?

After awhile Dick drifted off to sleep, exhausted from all the crying and sorrow from the day. Bruce carried him back to his room up in the mansion and laid him on his bed. He was about to leave when he heard Dick mumbled something in his sleep, "I promise Ivory I'll keep fighting for you. I won't give up."
Bruce just smiled closing the door quietly, knowing that Dick would never forget his best friend. And that he would he keep her alive through the memories he has and the promise that he had made to her.
