The snow crunched underneath his feet as he ran over the rooftops of Gotham. He could see his breath as he ran and his heartbeat pounding in his ears as the the thrill of the chase kicked in. Earlier that day Batman called him for help saying that there was a assassination on a couple that owned a million dollar weapons company. So there he was spending his night chasing the assassin.
He skidded to a halt on a roof top over looking the streets; cars zooming by just beneath him, catching his breath, the cold making it icy. His eyes frantically looking for where the assassin disappeared to from underneath his domino mask. Clicking the com in his ear he radioed Batman, "I lost the assassin, do you see them?"
"I got them." "Where are you?" "Two rooftops over on your right." He took off, following Batman's directions and found him engaged with the assassin. He snuck around, facing the assassin's back and was just about to pounce when the assassin pulled out a glowing white dagger out of thin air. He narrowly dodged it in time, but not before it cut his cheek.
Wiping his blood on the back of his hand he jumped into the fight. Whoever this assassin was they were good, insanely good. But upon closer examination of the assassin he discovered the assassin was female. Her outfit being all black with navy blue accents and white designs and a big white crescent moon on her chest. The lower half off her face was covered by a mask and a hood covered her head shadowing her face, her eyes glowing white."Nightwing!" Batman yelled. The sick sound of Nightwing's arm being dislocated could be heard as the assassin used him as leverage to keep Batman away, a glowing white dagger being held against his neck.
"Let him go." Batman ordered. The assassin glared at Batman, her eyes narrowed as her grip on the dagger and Nightwing's hair grew tighter, making him groan. She looked as if she was about to kill him when suddenly she just let go, the dagger she held disappearing into the air.Nightwing slowly got up from his knees holding his dislocated arm facing her. The tension was high as he glared daggers at her. But he couldn't shake this feeling in the pit of his stomache. It made him feel uneasy.
The assassin began to back away slowly, then jumped higher onto another rooftop. Nightwing and Batman made their way to the edge of the roof they were on watching her. She stopped and looked back at them, the moon illuminating her figure. Then in a bright white flash she was gone.
"Any idea who that was?" Batman asked. Nightwing was still staring at where the assassin disappeared the feeling in the pit of his stomache ever growing. "Nightwing?" He snapped out of his haze and looked at Batman, "You alright?" Nightwing looked back over where she disappeared, "To be honest, something about this makes me feel uneasy." Batman nodded in agreement and glares back at where the assassin had disappeared."I'm going back to the crime scene to look for evidence. Can you manage to get back home?" Batman inquired. Nightwing nodded yes and watched Batman grapple off and then looked back in the direction of wear the assassin disappeared. Quickly he pressed his com link, contacting Tim.
"Tim can you be on the look out for any activity regarding Deathstroke?" "Yeah I can do that, but why though? What for?" Tim asked curious. "Just a hunch that I need to be sure of." "Okay will do." "Thanks Tim."
Turning off his com link Nightwing turned his attention to the moon, its moonlight dancing brightly over Gotham. "What are you up to Slade?"
