The beginning

Chapter one: the beginning of the beginning

I let out a big yawn as I stretch my arms. I turn my head to look at the little poke-ball shaped clock on my nightstand to see what time it was. The little glowing green numbers on the clock tell me that it's 6:30, confused, I realize the alarm isn't going off from the clock, that sets off at eight, so that couldn't be what had awoken me, so I scan my room only to see the glowing screen of my P.C., releasing a low steady beeping noise. I let out another yawn and reluctantly crawl out of my warm bed, keeping my blankets draped around me like a cloak, keeping me warm.

As I walk to the glowing P.C., my bare feet get numb from the cold wooden floor beneath me. I walk quietly, because i hope to not disturb my mother downstairs, because she is probably making me a big breakfast, it is Saturday. When I get to my P.C. I see my reflection in the mirror next to it, and notice that I need to take a shower, I have horrible bed head. I smile at the thought of the warm shower as i continue to shiver while I check the message on the P.C.. The message is from my friends father Professor Oak, so I quickly get set to read it.

MESSAGE:

Dear Green,

Happy birthday dear, how does it feel being a teenager? Well I didn't know what I should get you for you birthday, but after thinking it through I had realized you had become of age to be a trainer! I still dislike the timing they changed for beginning to be a trainer, 3 whole years apart now, that's a lot of time! Well, either way I have decided to give you your very own starting pokemon.

I have sent messages quite like this to both Red and Blue. I find it strange that your birthdays were all on the same day, yet you are still the youngest. Well, i hope for you to come by my lab today so that i could give you your pokemon. I have decided that the first person here gets to pick their pokemon first, and you know Red and Blue are both heavy sleepers! I'll be waiting for you at the lab, and also, i already sent a message to your mom, but make sure you remind her in case i didn't, you know i'm forgetful sometimes.

Have a nice birthday,

Uncle Oak

I smile wider as I walk to my pine wood dresser and open a drawer filled with my cloths. I change into some purple skinny jeans and a blue shirt, and put on mt neon green backpack. I then quickly brush my hair to get rid of my horrible bed head, but i would just not lay down flat, so I decide to leave it as is.

I open my door into the hall and run to the stairs, and slip on the first step down. I tumble down the stars, but i'm used to it, i am very clumsy. When i hit the hardwood floors with a thud my mom looks over to me from the kitchen and sighs, "not again." She puts down the pan she was using to flip pancakes and walks over to help me up. My mom extends an arm to help me up and I quickly accept the offer with a smile. When I get up I stand about a head taller than my mom. She smiles up at me "doesn't the Professor need you?"

"Yes! I need to go now!"

"OK, just make sure to take our the garbage before you leave!"

"yes mom, after I get my pokemon!"

"Fine, make sure you do it though dear."

"OK, bye!" I say as I rush out the door.

I close the door behind me as I leave the house and take a big breath of the cold sharp air.

I smile as I slowly walk towards the lab, thinking about what might happen when i get there, the pokemon i will meet, and the trash i will take out.

After getting to the lab i take a deep breath and stretch out my hand to knock on the frozen cold door. I pray to arceus he comes faster, i really don't like the cold. I shiver while i quickly stretch my numb hand to knock on the door once more time, but before i can get my hand to the door it opens and i see the professor in his lab coat stand before me with a warm smile on his face. He quickly realizes my frail body shivering and ushers me into the lab. The warmness of his small lab astonishes me as i quickly look around to see where the heat source is coming from. I then see a large white fox-like pokemon with glowing red eyes and nine large tails with orange tips. It emanates warmth from its fluffy white fur and grins at me and closes its eyes and slowly walks closer to me. I smile as it stretches and rubs against me, covering me in fur. "looks like it likes you" says professor oak with a big grin on his face

"yeah" i say as i hug the magnificent creature letting the warmth of its fur envelop me

"well, that pokemon is called ninetales, it is a fire type, that's why it gives off the heat it does"

"well i like it, its fuzzy and cuddly"

"i can see that" professor oak smiles "but right now you get to pick YOUR pokemon!"

i whip my head towards him, as my hair flies everywhere, remembering that i had forgot to wash it. He grins and ushers me to follow him. We start to walk to the far end of the lab as ninetales follows us. Suddenly questions flood my mind. I turn to the professor and ask him "why do you have the ninetales out and not the heater?" He gives me a grim look as we walk to the other end of the lab, staying in a deathly silence the entire time. I ask again but he doesn't respond, he seems to be in deep thought. A continue to look at the following ninetales as we walk to the end of the lab, trying to come up with a logical answer. It seems to be trained, but not by the professor, meaning another trainer must have done something with it. But why have it out, why not just release it or give it to another trainer?

When we finally get to the other end of the lab, oak puts his arm out to stop me from walking into a white wooden table. I look up and see three small spheres on the table, red on top, white on the bottom, but in the middle a light grey line splits the ball in half, with a white button penetrating the center, poke-balls, one containing my soon to be first starter.
