Hello lovelies! My name is Kara and I am a huge fan of One Direction and writing. So i figured why not combine the two and write my own fanfic? I hope everyone enjoys reading what I've worked so hard on for weeks and I encourage each and every one of you who reads this to comment, vote, and maybe even recommend to your fellow friends on Wattpad? :) This is my first story to write and publish, so if it's not very great then I'm open for comments and suggestions to help me improve my writing ability! Thanks to everyone! It means so much that you've taken the time to consider reading! I'll shut up now so you can read if you want to. Enjoy! :)

Chapter One

The headlights of Harry’s new Audi reflect yellow against the shiny wet asphalt of the street that he has us speeding down. And speeding we are. But the Audi handles well and Harry is a decent driver. That doesn’t mean I’m not gripping my seat until my knuckles are white, however. I steal a glance at his face, which is dimly lit by the lights coming from the dashboard. He is grinning from ear to ear. He must have felt me looking at him because he glances briefly at me before turning his attention back to the road.

“Come on, Lucy, lighten up!” He whines slowly, taking a turn just fast enough to feel as though the right tires would lift off the ground. His eyes widen with adrenaline as inertia pulls at us before the road straightens out again.

Lighten up? If you don’t slow down, we’re going to be dead!” I chide him, double-checking my seat belt.

“We’re going to be fine,” He says calmly, chuckling a little.

“Please slow down,” I beg him, but he ignores my plea. He laughs as he continues flying down the road at the same speed as before. It’s a little after two in the morning. There can’t be many other cars out this late, right?

Suddenly, as we pass a small back road, a bright light appears in the back window. My eyes fly to Harry’s and he stares into the rear view mirror. The headlights get smaller and smaller until they start to remain the same size.

“I think we've lost them,” Harry mutters under his breath.

“I didn’t know we were trying to lose them?” I ask, somewhat confused and still terrified. Then, as if things couldn’t get any worse, familiar red and blue flashes join the headlights. Harry curses under his breath and begins to slow the vehicle. As we slow, the headlights of the police car behind us grow larger and larger in the mirrors. Harry pulls over and the car pulls up behind us. The policeman steps out and Harry rolls down his window as he approaches our car. I sit quietly in the passenger seat as Harry answers the policeman’s questions. He answers politely with “yes sir” and “no sir”. He’s charming. Like usual. Harry can always talk his way out of any situation if he really tries to. And he even ends up getting off with a warning.

As the policeman walks back to his car, Harry’s fingers find the steering wheel again and he clenches them tightly. The tendons on the back of his hands are outlined by the dim lighting before they sink back into his flesh as he relaxes his grip.

“I hate to say ‘I told you so’,” I start, crossing my arms in front of my chest.
