Pitch stood in plain sight. Under the streetlight the gold in his eye bright with dark excitement. The moon shone dimly and Pitch looked up, "Where are your 'Guardians' now?" He chuckled darkly. "They've failed. I stand alone, and no one is going to stop me now."
The moon looked down sadly. The only thing Manny felt was guilt. He'd been too late to warn his Guardians of Pitch's return. Now, those who were left, they remained hidden.
"JACK RUN!" North yelled, slicing through a Nightmare.
"NORTH!" He was over taken by nightmares, disappearing in the black sand. Tooth and Sandy had already retreated, North gone, leaving Bunny and Jack. "Bunny, we have to go!"
He had hesitated, looking at the moon, "I'm sorry. We failed." He opened a tunnel, "JACK THIS WAY!" He hopped in, Jack right behind him.
Pitch's dark smile emerged. "Run while you still can, Guardians, but you can't hide forever."
Manny looked at Nightlight, tears pickling his eyes. Nightlight nodded, sending down more moon light, sending away as many shadows as possible.
One crept into a young teenager's room. Her room was simple, nothing out of the ordinary, but what caught it's attention was not black sand, but gold over her sleeping head. The images of all the Guardians. Every single one.
It quickly turned to tell Manny of what he found, only to see Pitch himself blocking every exit with shadows. The beam backed up, frightened, knocking over a trash can. The gold sand disappeared, and she gasped away, eyes widening at the sight of the Nightmare King and the moon beam in her room.
She sat there, shocked, staring straight at Pitch, unblinking, unmoving. Slowly, he and the nightmare went back into the shadows, disappearing from sight. She looked at the beam. "Hurry," she jumped out of bed, picking up the frightened light. "Go back before it's too late." She opened the window, and the beam rushed out, heading to the moon as quick as possible.
There's hope. There's still a chance.
