Chapter 12.

The next morning I wake up with a massive headache. I didn't drink or anything so it's not because I'm hungover.

My alarm goes off and my head starts to pound harder.

"Nikki, wake up!" Jackson yells from the other side of the door. I groan but get up anyway.

Walking to the bathroom I take the Advil out of the cabinet and take two. After all the bathroom stuff is done I head to my room and do make up.

"Ooo la la." I hear someone say and I snap my head to look at Colten with that stupid smirk on his face.

I can't believe we almost kissed yesterday. It's a good thing though, as much as I want to kiss him, I can't. That wouldn't only be betraying my brother but him breaking the "code". Dumb code anyway.

"Get out." I say calmly and instead of turning around he walks towards me. Please don't, please don't. I know this time there will be no way I can stop him.

"Why?" He asks. Is he an idiot? I glare at him and grab my bag before heading to the door. "Oh no you don't." he says and grabs me by my waist. I look down at his hand around my waist and then up at his face. He has a smile on his lips and his brown hair is slightly in his eyes. Before he can do anything Jackson comes walking in.

"Would you let go of my sister?" he questions and rolls his eyes. It's amazing how different Jackson and I really are, personality wise, looks are the same.

We both have a little bit of everything between our parents. Jackson has light brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. While I have light brown hair and light big, brown eyes.

Colten laughs at him but let go, we all walked downstairs and out to the car. I hate sitting in the back of the car but I also hate being by Colten so this is better.

When we get to school I walk up to Brittni and she has a smile plastered to her face. I'm still upset at her for not coming over last night, I know it has something to do with Nathan too. I thought it was 'chicks before dicks.'

"Hey chica." she says with a smile still glued to her face. I look at her with no expression on my face and she gets the hint. "Look, I'm sorry for last night. I had tons of homework and like five tests today."

"It's fine, I was just being annoyed by my babysitter." I smirk and she laughs.

"Still need a babysitter don't you?" I shrug and she smiles, showing me her perfectly whitened teeth, she has the straightest and healthiest teeth I know.

"Yes." I groan. She throws her head back in laughter and we walk to our first hour.

It's now time for lunch and I walk in looking for Brittni, yet I don't see her at our table. I don't know where she could be, she didn't tell me that she was leaving for lunch or anything.

"Have you seen Brittni?" I ask Nathan. If anybody should know than its Nathan. Which who I may remind you as her boyfriend.

"No, I thought she would be with you." He says with a worried expression on his face. Crap.

"No I don't know where she is." I sigh and sit down next to Zoey. "Have any of you guys seen Brittni?" I ask the girls but they all say they don't. She probably has to retake a test or something.

After lunch is over I walk to Brittni's locker but she isn't there either. I'll talk to her at cheer practice, I guess that's my only option.

The last couple classes go great except for the amount of homework. Plus I'm supposed to be getting ungrounded today, but he hasn't mentioned anything.

I run out to the field and find Brittni already there. Her hair is messy and her lips are swollen. Ew, I guess I know what her and Nathan were doing before now.

"Where were you?" I scold her and she turns to me with a shocked expression on her face.

"I-I-I was retaking a test. I would've told you but it was last minute." She sighs and looks at her shoes. Weird. See this is what I mean by her being distant lately.

She walks up to the front of the team. "Girls we all know that our first football game is on Friday. So we are going to be practicing that routine until tomorrow!" She yells at us and we get started.

Colten's POV.

We toss the football back and forth for practice. This is really boring. We have our first game on Friday and we aren't even practicing properly. This is why I should be captain not Bryan.

I look over at Nikki and might I say she looks hot in her short shorts and tank top. Man do I just want to lick those long tan legs and what's between...

"Bro." Jackson snaps his fingers in front of my face.

"Hmm?" I ask and I look away from Nikki and back at Jackson giving me the death stare. "What!?"

"Quit checking out my sister." he punches my arm and walks away.

"What the hell." I mutter to myself. I didn't think he even noticed me doing that. I can't help it though, she's beautiful and I don't want her with anyone else besides me.
