Chapter 36.

Once we get back to school Colten takes me back to my house. The car is silent, I hear the faint singing of The Fray playing in the radio throughout the silence.

We pull up into my driveway and I'm just hoping that Jackson isn't here. I search for his car as if he's playing a trick on me. But there's no signs. Perfect.

"What should I wear?" I ask Colten once we get up to my room and I'm throwing everything out of my closet and dresser.

"I don't know." He laughs. I do too, I should've known that he's not the one I need to talk to about this with.

Twenty minutes of searching through my clothes I find a black pencil skin tight black dress, I grab my black heels and my hand purse. I decide it's probably going to be a little cold so I grab my black leather jacket and slip it on.

After changing and putting on a little more make up we head back on the road.

"I need to stop for gas. We won't make it." Colten sighs.

"Okay." I agree. I'd rather be safe than sorry. That would be horrible if we ran out of gas and then had to push the car to the gas station. Now that I think about it, that would actually be pretty funny. I probably wouldn't even help.

We pull up to SpeedWay. Have I mentioned that gas stations scare me when it's dark out?

Yes from many movies I've watched, for some weird reason I am scared to be at gas stations at night. Don't judge.

"I can go in and pay." I offer. As much as I would like to stay within the safety of the car, I decide that I would help out...a little bit.

"Okay. Here." Colten agrees to my offer and hands me the amount of money to give the cashier. I get out of the car and let me tell you I'm freezing. Open toed shoes and a short dress isn't exactly weather appropriate. Luckily I wore my jacket or I wouldn't have gotten out of the car.

After paying the cashier I walk back out to the car and Colten is already waiting.

"It's cold." I shiver and he laughs. I'm so happy that he think me suffering is so funny.

"Yea, I told you to wear something a little less...showy." He shrugs. That's true. When I showed him the outfit that I am currently wearing right now, he told me to wear something less exposing. I thought it was just because he didn't want guys drooling over me.

"Yea, yea." I slap his arm and he chuckles. I stare out the window at the passing city. Lights light up the sky and it's beautiful. I've always loved the city at night. Something about the busyness. Couples walking around town holding hands, so romantic.

A few minutes later we pull up to Justin's house and just so you know it's huge. I've always known that Justin's parents were rich, but I've never seen a house this big.

The front yard is huge with beer cans and red solo cups littered everywhere. People sitting on the grass some even throwing up all the alcohol they consumed. The driveway circles around a fountain at the front of the house with cars parked on the curb. It's it's own secluded property.

"Ready?" I didn't even noticed Colten holding the door open for me. I was to busy admiring Justin's wealthiness. Things I could do with this much money.

"Ready as I'll ever be." I smile and he takes my hand to help me out of his truck. We walk hand and hand into the house...umm mansion? It's even nicer on the inside. Very big.

"Glad you could make it." A voice snaps me out of my admiring of Justin's house. I snap my head to where the voice came from, It was Justin's.

"Glad we could too." Colten says and does one of those 'bro' hugs with him. Colten looks at me and clears his throat. "Justin this is Nikki...my girlfriend." He introduces us.

"Nice to meet you." I smile and shake his hand.

"I've never seen you around. You go to our school?" Justin asks with a puzzled expression on his face. Seriously? I'm a cheerleader for you team.

"Yea. I'm a cheerleader for your football team." I pause but he doesn't seem to be catching on. "I'm Jackson's sister."

"Oh, right. Sorry, I just didn't realize Jackson's sister was so..." he trails off and my eyes land on Colten whose jaw is clenched and glaring daggers at Justin. "Never mind. Have fun." He smiles again then walks away.

"Bastard." Colten mutters. This ultimately makes me smile. I love when he's all protective, it's very attractive. "Want something to drink?" Colten asks after he gets over his tantrum.

"Sure." I smile up at my boyfriend and he smiles back at me.

"Okay, stay right here." He instructs and gives me a quick peck on the lips before walking towards the kitchen.

What shall I do until Colten comes back? I know, I know, Colten told me to stay here but I kind of want to have fun. And there's no doubt he's probably going to stop to talk to some friends.

"Long time no see." Someone says from behind me. I turn around to be met with my ex-boyfriend.

"Hey Adam!" I squeak enthusiastically and wrap my arms around his neck. The sound of his laugh fills my ears and I let go to look at him.

"Haven't talked to you in forever. How are you?" He rewards me with his dazzling smile.

Ever since the incident where Colten sort of walked in on Adam and I almost...you know, we haven't really talked. I mean every so often we would talk in science but other than that we kind of just steered clear of each other.

"I know. I've been good, how about you?" I ask back. This isn't nearly as awkward as I thought it would be.

"Good. Do you want to dance?" He asks. Well, I wasn't expecting that. What should I say? What would Colten do? Uh-oh.

"Sorry she can't." A deep voice says from behind me. I already know whose voice that belongs to. I turn around swiftly to be met with Colten's glare.

"Why? Are you guys like dating or something?" Adam furrows his eyebrows with a sad look in his eyes. It's very painful to see him like this. I want to be friends but Colten won't let me.

"Yes. We are. So stay away from my girlfriend." Colten sneers and cups my cheeks and presses his lips to mine with a lot of force. I'm taken by surprise at this. Colten tries to push his tongue past my lips but I don't allow it instead I push him away with as much force as I can muster.

"What the hell?" I semi- yell. I turn on my heel and stomp up the stairs. How dare he? Trying to make Adam jealous by toying with me. Just in case you haven't noticed I am not a toy. And secondly I don't like to be treated like I am one. Adam wasn't even coming on to me. Except the fact that he asked to dance but he didn't force me. And he also didn't know that Colten and I were dating. I can't believe Colten though.

I find the bathroom upstairs and step in closing the door and locking it.

"Ugh." I groan and lean my forehead against the cold white wood. Am I overreacting? No, Nikki he was toying with you to make Adam jealous. That's true. A good point at that. Now I need to find some way to confront him about this. Can't a party ever just be fun? I take that as a no. Great.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. I've been really busy with so many I fete my things. Thanks for the reads. And again I'm sorry if this chapter it really brought. The next chapter will definitely be more interesting.
